We visited this place in 2003 having been recommended it as a secret foodie location that all the locals love to visit. We weren't disappointed.
The staff were friendly and the food was amazing - example lunch: enormous juicy anchovies tossed with almonds on a bed of perfectly-cooked penne - and a chilled glass of local white wine. The Sicilians are more proud of their wine than the Italians - so if you love a bit of wine snobbery then chat to them about their wine cellar - they love to tell you all about it!
Although it's quite secluded and out of the way of the towns and villages, if you have a car you won't find it a problem to get about. And if you're feeling lazy, just swim in the pool in the sunshine, enjoy amazing views of Etna at night time and sip a cold beer whilst munching on a snack of pistachios to keep you going until a sumptuous dinner.
