“Excellent - well equipped, comfortable, superb location, friendly hosts.”

This is a lovely property in an absolutely superb situation with wonderful views of the beautiful Monmouthshire countryside, Yes, it's off the beaten track - which might not suit some, but that is the (small) price one pays for the peace and tranquillity that this property offers in abundance. It's well equipped for the self-catering visitor - as I was - but there's a pub within walking distance (0.75 mile) and others further away for those who want to eat out. Food supplies can be replenished in the local towns of Usk, Raglan, Chepstow and Monmouth.
The conservatory is a definite plus for enjoying the view and generally relaxing. The cottage is very homely and the owners live in the adjoining house. They're friendly and helpful without being intrusive.
The welcome pack of fresh eggs, marmalade and wine was a lovely touch and greatly enjoyed.
For countryside lovers and walkers this is a really good location. Apart from the immediate vicinity and the Usk valley, the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains are within easy reach by car. For octogenarians such as myself - not as active as I once was - the car allowed me to revisit old haunts first explored nearly 60 years ago when my parents moved to Monmouthshire - Llanthony Priory, the villages of Skenfrith and Grosmont - and the area around Wolvesnewton where I was married over 50 years ago.
I also discovered the hidden gardens near Caerwent - a truly delightful find. The drive from Llanthony to Hay-on-Wye (single track for the most part) was very lovely - with spectacular views on the approach to Hay.
However, for those who want themeparks, modern amusements, boutique shopping and the like - well, try Cardiff perhaps because you won't find them here. What you will find is natural beauty, birdsong, starry night skies, peace and quiet.

“Second Time But Still Delightful!”
Reviewed 22 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Second time at Drws Nesa ( last here in 2010 ) but just as enjoyable. An idyllic spot all round, definitely off the beaten track and half way between the villages of Raglan and Usk. Very much a home from home and you can do as you wish. A new car parking bay for guests was under construction as we stayed and will make personal access even easier. You can plan outings every day or simply do nothing, the choice is yours. Television reception was excellent and there is now the provision of internet Wi-Fi in the property so it was great to keep in touch and even plan where to go next. Lovely to look at the endless green scenery, not to mention the sheep, ducks and the odd rabbit. Dylan, the resident sheepdog, loved to keep in touch as well.
No Tesco Express down the road unfortunately but Usk sports a great Spar shop with excellent parking. Access is via some single track roads so best to keep a note of potential passing places.
A lovely touch was the complimentary eggs, wine and jar of pear chutney. And I have to say that scrambled egg made with those eggs was to die for! You can travel light and wash and iron all clothing here with excellent drying in the conservatory.
Recommend a visit to the village of Raglan ( 2.7 miles away ) which remains very much unspoilt since I used to visit there as a boy some 57 years ago ( my mother's birthplace ). You should also take in Raglan Castle for a few hours history making and don't miss Usk Castle as well which is in private ownership and set in natural surroundings.
