We have just spent a truly wonderful four nights in Dry Dock Cottage. What luxury, this cottage is by far one of the most unique places we have stayed in.
How enjoyable it was to walk along the canal during the day & then return to relax in the comfort of the cottage.
Everything you could imagine is catered for, you just need to bring your food, wine & yourselves for a wonderful chill out experience.
In the time we spent here we couldn’t even make it to the cinema room as we were transfixed by the view and watching the barges and people meandering on by.
We had the radio playing, a glass of wine and the log burner glowing, seriously, we couldn’t have asked for more.
If you want time out for life’s sometimes busy times then include a visit to Dry Dock cottage and allow your batteries to recharge.
The owners really have thought of everything to help you relax, and the decor and attention to detail is stunning.
One of the very best places we have stayed with a five star level of accommodation in a most peaceful location. We enjoyed watching the boats negotiate the tricky bend just next to the cottage on the wharf. The surrounding walks were stunning and we particularly enjoyed a trip to stylish Crickhowell ten miles away.Be prepared for a reluctance to go home after a few days here!
Wharfinger Cottage is a home, warm and cozy but with all of the mod cons we like today and yet, the quirky history shines through its walls. Peace and quiet but also a friendly face as a boat goes buy or a walker enjoying the day.
The area is wonderful for walks whatever your age and your doggy friends. Further afield there is more stunning scenery, with steam trains and boats to ride on or in, lovely inidivudal shops in the local towns and friendly people everywhere.
We had a wonderful week and will return to Llanfoist Wharf and Wales as it has so much to offer.
I thought you had to die to go to heaven but there is a little cottage under the Blorenge in Llanfoist that is peaceful idyllic and somewhere I enjoyed staying.
Have you ever arrived at your holiday destination and been disappointed as it’s not quite what the rose tinted brochure was like? Well you won’t be disappointed at Incline Cottage it’s better. Having rented a Beacon Park boat last year we knew the standards were high but the owners have transformed this cottage to a cosy up to date (they think of everything) comfortable place to stay with all mod cons. Tucked away at the foot of the Blorenge the views are spectacular alongside the canal whilst sitting in the garden we often heard the boaters exclaim what a beautiful place as they emerged from the bridge. Every comfort is afforded here we went for long walks with the dogs who were also made to feel welcome and visited the local villages towns and of course the local pubs. Thank you again for making our holiday a week to remember.
We have stayed twice at Wharfinger's Cottage and on both occassions have been delighted with all aspects of our stay. The facilities are superb, the decor etc equally good and the setting is lovely.
Scoring the bargees on their manouvering ability is a must and our cocker spaniel enjoyed the run of the garden and barking at the ducks!
On our second visit we were a party of eight, so one couple stayed in thhe Dry Dock Cottage. The standard of workmanship and attention to detail is breath-taking. Sitting at canal level to watch the world drift slowly by was a highlight.
Ideal properties for a relaxing get-away-from-it-all break
