We love this place. Our family took over all 4 apartments including my 86 year old mum (sorry mum). Dean organised restaurant deals at excellent prices and the food was fantastic. Wild boar, wonderful pasta - italian food at its best - unfussy but delicious. This is peaceful restful rural Italy at its best. Sunshine, food , wine, great hosts (thanks Lesley and Dean). If you want real Italy without the crowds and bustle visit Caserma Carina. Sorry Dean and Lesley - we will return with mum and the gang.
Despite not usually being the type of people to go back to the same place twice on holiday, for caserma carina we made an exception and couldn't wait to go back for our second holiday here. We also took grandparents along this time and stayed in the larger ground floor apartment which worked out well with our 17month old daughter sleeping in a travel cot in our bedroom. We have found this to be a perfect holiday for children with a cupboard full of children's toys which kept her entertained, safe gardens for her to run about in and a fenced off pool area with inflatables. Dean, Lesley and daughter Grace are exceptional hosts, always on hand to offer advice/ recommendations when needed and our daughter loved spending time running round the gardens under the watchful eye of Grace. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again to further explore the brilliant food and surrounding area of Le Marche.
We have just returned from our first visit to Caserma Carina and know it won't be our last. Beautiful apartments in a lovely old house, restored to a very high standard with a fabulous pool and garden in a spectacular but tranquil setting. However it is Dean, Lesley and Grace who make this place what it is, they work tirelessly to maintain everything to a very high standard but still have time to be interested in their visitors, to chat or to help out with advice and recommendations about the area. There are lots of lovely places to eat nearby, some involve a short car journey but if you are foodies like us, it's worth it! Go on Dean's wine tasting trip; if you've done it once, you'd certainly do it again! We went away as a couple on our own but we came back with the feeling that we'd spent a holiday with old friends.
We loved our stay at Caserma Carina with our two children, it really made our trip to Le Marche. Lesley and Dean are brilliant hosts, providing with as much privacy as you need but always on call for any question you may have or help you may need including where to eat, where to visit, where to park, speed limits etc. The accommodation is lovely with everything that you need for your stay. For anybody travelling with children there are a few small extras that really help - plastic cutlery, high chair seat, travel cot and a cupboard full of toys. The garden and pool are gorgeous and even with kids around it felt peaceful. The laundry room and loyalty bar also came in handy. The town of Mogliano is nice with a couple of small supermarkets to buy supplies, some restaurants, a park and a lovely old town. You can get take out from a couple of places too. Plenty of lovely things to see close by and only about 30 minutes from the coast. Added bonus that because you are not in a tourist trap you don't pay inflated prices. Highly recommend and hope to return.
Dean and Lesley have clearly put their heart and soul into Caserma Carina and it really shows. The apartments are very comfortable and beautifully finished, and the gardens are stunning, with wonderful views up to the town, and across the fields to the mountains in the distance. We visited as a family (with 2 children, 9 and 6), and we were very happy spending long days lounging in and around the pool or on the lawn.
The honesty bar is well stocked with beers and local wines, the shelves are full of books and DVDs, and the wifi is on. We visited in the middle of a heat wave so the air conditioning was a real luxury, and really appreciated.
Dean and Lesley are superb hosts - really welcoming, friendly and funny. They are also always on hand to help, setting us up for BBQs in the garden, booking restaurant tables etc. Dean's wine tasting trip was also really great. Lots of wines to taste in a really friendly and impressive environment, and all for a very reasonable price indeed.
A really lovely family holiday which will live long in the memory. I hope we'll be able to return soon.
