“Perfect place, so welcoming, the family were very kind and we had everything we needed.”

Lovely apartment , basic but reasonable and near beach and bus stop. Also a mini market open from 9am to 10pm. Owners so friendly and kind. We could pick our own fruit and had fresh eggs and veg. Water park nearby and cash machines in archaravi, 25 min walk or bus ride.

“A warm welcome in a beautiful setting”

So here's the thing...all these reviews are based on previous experiences, hopes and expectations. So yes, the satellite TV is a little ropey, the pool is on a seperate compound, and there are are wire drums for tables on the patio (though they wouldnt look out of place in some hipster bar in central London). But for us, this just added to the homely character of the place, which one of the joys of our holiday. We had a wonderful, relaxing time and wouldn't have changed a thing.

The villa is situated in beautiful gardens, surrounded by orange, lemon, and olive groves. The view from the patio looks out over this greenery to inviting blue ocean with the mountains of Albania completing a spectacular backdrop. There are short walks to get to the beach, to a good selection of local tavernas and to the cafe/ pool complex that offers free use of the facilities to Villa Pantheo residents. Acharavi is also within walking distance, but far enough away for its hustle and bustle not to impact on the peace and tranquility of the villa. Longer walks will take you to more beaches, with oppotunities for snorkelling, and also to the cool of the mountains behind the coast (thoroughly recommended). If you looking for it on Google maps, it's part of Almiros apartments (it's in Almiros ,about 1.5km east of Archaravi).

The villa itself was immaculately clean. It was cool, comfortable and, although the facilities were fairly basic, perfectly adequate for a self catering family holiday. In the ten days we were there we never experienced any problems at all. There is a cool veranda to eat out on, and a patio area with sunbeds that makes the best the views. The friendly local mini-market is only 50m if you have forgotten to get cold beers or milk for the morning.

The thing that really makes this place, though, is the people. We were made to feel so welcome and so at home without being fussed over. After a day out, we would come back to find our washing done ( even though there was a machine available for our use) and eggs, fruit and veg on the table. We were encouraged to help ourselves to anything growing in the grounds (fresh figs, fruit and tomatoes were favourites), offered to be driven on supermarket trips and provided with timetables and advice for excursions and buses to Corfu town. The owners (as were most of the local people) were completely delightful. They were thoughtful, friendly and kind without being overbearing (they were very respectful of our space and privacy). I can't thank them enough for making our stay such a memorable holiday.

“Stay away - Dated interior and not well maintained”
Reviewed 31 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

For those of you looking for an enjoyable, memorable holiday on Corfu let you be told that the Villa Pantheo is not for you. There are so many other really good and affordable options available, there is no reason why you would want to settle for this place.

We had booked the apartment for our second of two weeks on Corfu. First of all, finding the place is not easy. It’s East of Acharavi, quite remote in the middle of nowhere, along the main road. There are no signs indicating the entrance driveway to Villa Pantheo, which I find quite unusual compared to all the other places around it. If it hadn’t been for TripAdvisor’s (“TA”) integrated Googlemaps and me in addition calling the owner asking for directions we would never have found it. We had even asked at a little market just next to the property showing the shop assistants the TA print-out and they said we were at the wrong place! Villa Pantheo is not actually in Acharavi as described on the TA website, but in Almiros.

The house is on the top of an elevation, with the car park being a few feet below just in front of the house, which is convenient. But as we drove to the car park, the first impression already made us feel uneasy. Yes, you had a sea view in the far, but the garden and the surroundings did not give the impression of being well maintained. There were large stretches of brown grass and the sun beds, which were in front of the veranda lawn, looked like they hadn’t been used for quite some time - being covered in dust and dirt. In between the sun beds were two large wooden cable drums, like construction workers would use to lay cable next to a road. They were turned upright as to prevent them from rolling away or maybe in order to suggest using them as a table? Also in the garden we could see an old bathtub standing in the far corner. It’s not as the description of the property would want you to believe “…the luxurious greenery of orange and lemon trees.” In reality it appears quite rough, especially if you compare it to some of the other residencies in the neighbourhood! We also didn’t see any particular area for kids to play, but maybe we just missed it?
Approaching the house, again we noticed an old running trainer which was stored just outside of the apartment entrance under the staircase leading to the upper level. Not a nice sight.
Coming in to the apartment you find yourself in a long narrow corridor without natural lighting. Some cables stick out of the wall on the far left above head level. The rooms then are off the corridor to your left. Both bedrooms have two single beds. The kitchen is small, dated and in a desolate condition. The cupboards plywood flooring had taken in water and gone apart. Inside the cupboard were metal standing trays for the dishes, which had gone all rusty. The cooker was aged and showed brown stains. The fridge is of decent size, but also quite dated with yellow stains. Most of this you don’t really see when looking at the pictures on TA. On the positive, there is a small old TV in the kitchen, which the photos don’t show either. If you’re a good observer, you’ll notice that all pictures were taken with the room lights switched on. This was necessary, because the rooms are in fact quite dark.
On Corfu mosquitoes are a common feature. It is hence not comprehendible why this flat lacks mosquito nets on all windows and veranda doors? This is a standard! Strangely enough the shower curtain was missing, too…
On the veranda photos on TA you see a table with wooden chairs. In reality you get cheap plastic chairs with metal framing, which are starting to show rust strains. Not inviting at all.
A little surprising to me also came the fact that the swimming pools shown on the Villa Pantheo’s TA have nothing to do with the property. Yes, it says that it’s 250m to the pool, but I stood under the impression that this was part of the compound and was shared with the other apartments and studios the owners rent out. This is however not the case. The pools belong to other (much nicer looking) apartment complexes. Like all over Corfu, in most cases non residents may use such pools for free (as long as they also consume drinks or food during the day).
Having seen all this, it was clear to us that we wouldn’t want to spend a week of our hard deserved vacation at Villa Pantheo. My wife hence informed the owner in a very friendly and polite fashion that we’d not be staying there for the week we had booked. The response was not very kind. Also, the owner immediately stated “No money refunded”, although my wife hadn’t even mentioned that point yet! Quite funnily then the owner immediately stripped all the beds from all the bed linen. To us it seemed like other disappointed guests may have retaliated the “no refund” comment, by taking the bed linen as souvenir? Who knows?

In conclusion all of this suggests to me that the owners are not interested in the wellbeing of their guests, but rather in making a quick buck. The property is underinvested and not well maintained. I’m sure you’ll be able to find many much better options on the ground. If you can’t find something online, just ask around locally. Stay away from properties with no or few comments like this place. It might be using a different name next season.

Management Response
8 Aug 2016
The above customer arrived in our apartment and asked straight to go to the swimming pool as "swimming pool is the most important for the kids".After a while his wife came back to tell us that they don't want to stay here. When we asked her the reason she said that her husband didn't like the apartment. Then we told her that they could go if they wanted but that no refund could be done as they were already in the check in date. Her response was "I know, this is bad for us".She left again and after some hours the whole family came back to pick up their luggages.
The next day on 31/8 the customer called us saying that his wife didn't like the apartment (go figure out which one didn't like the apartment),and that they have written a bad review which he was hoping not to post in order to have some kind of agreement. He suggested not to post his review if he receives back half of the price. We refused his proposal unconditionally to refund him 50% and he kept on his extortion.
We also informed immidiately Tripadvisor of his blackmail.
To us it is clear that the motive of this review was the refund of money. We accept any kind of review which aims at improvement and we do not accept blackmails.
