The place was once special but they have been deferring maintenance. The rug in the halls and rooms was pretty bad. We did not walk barefoot on it. The location is way out of town and you'll need a car. Still, it ws a decent night's sleep and relatively cheap.

A large modern edge of town hotel with a substantial pool and terrace. Not quaint or homely place. Good for kids in the pool, large wedding groups, that sort of thing. Figure on $20 taxi into the town centre. WiFi awful.

Room Tip: west looks across the arm of the inlet

Both myself and a friend stayed in this hotel for 7 nights and it was amazing! The hotel is close to the center (5 minute taxi drive for 5 Euros) where you can find lots of lovely places to eat and bars overlooking the Harbour. We walked to back to the hotel from the center one night which took around 30-45 minutes so we wouldn't encourage that during the night, but it would be a nice walk during the day. The hotel itself is in a quiet place, particularly attractive if you're looking for a nice relaxing holiday. The pool was very clean and the barman, Giannis was so accommodating, friendly and helpful!

The room was standard which we didn't mind as we were hardly in the room, but very clean - although we would have requested a room overlooking the pool and lake as the view in the evening is stunning, especially watching the sunset!

A breakfast buffet was included in the price which had many different options from the traditional english breakfast, to greek yoghurt, fruit, croissants, pancakes, cheeses and breads - we indulged every morning!

The receptionists were extremely helpful as well, as was the hotel manager, chefs and restaurant managers. They were honestly some of the nicest people we have met! I wouldn't listen to any of the bad reviews about this hotel, other than those commenting on the wifi - which wasn't at all great, but we had our mobile data so it didn't disable us as much.

I would definitely recommend heading to Alonaki beach, and the Acheron river - which was a 40 minute taxi ride away (around 50-60 Euros one way) which you could do in the same day, this was part of our holiday which we enjoyed the most! We kayaked through the river which was particularly enjoyable and extremely fun, and the beach was just stunning!

Otherwise, you have Monolithi beach which is a 15 minute taxi ride (15 Euros) - and again, would recommend the Nicopolis Beach Bar on that beach - free sun beds and service on the beach..

Overall, we had a very pleasant stay in the hotel and in Preveza. Whilst Preveza itself wasn't a tourist spot such as places like Parga, this is a hidden gem in Greece and would recommend it in a heartbeat!

I hope this comes in useful! :)

Room Tip: Request a room with a pool/harbour view!

A five minute drive from the centre of Preveza, The Margarona Hotel is in a peaceful location overlooking the sea. Helpful staff. Excellent swimming pool. Good breakfast. The only negative was the wifi - poor coverage, unreliable and much slower than 3G on the rare occasions it was working.

We thank you for taking the time to write a review for Margarona Royal Hotel.

We are very pleased to know that your stay was pleasant and the hotel fullfilled your expectations. We are very sorry that the free wifi we are providing let you down. Although we are well equipped to provide good wifi service, sometimes our provider is doing some works to upgrade the network, resulting to a poor service.
