We booked more than 30 days ahead, only to find upon arrival that 75% of the hotel was closed down by the Fire Marshall. The manager claimed we should have been informed, we drove four hours to get there and had no such notice. After several hours, she finally found us a 3 bedroom chalet type room but upon inspection we found old furniture, NO air conditioning, etc. and declined. Several other guests were angry when they discovered no rooms. Pool was an empty pit, not as advertised. Needs serious upgrading and obviously has some fire hazard issues. Still waiting for a full refund as I booked online and paid up front. Never again!!! Only good thing is Jessica, she tries her best but is fighting a losing battle with the owners and managing company

Room Tip: No room is a good room in this hotel, stay away. Old and dumpy

The worst experience ever!
Customer service has no meaning here. There is no way to contact their office via email or phone. We had booked a cottage in June and fully paid (through their website). When we got there, there was no one to check us in. Then a lady showed up and she couldn’t find our booking with last name or reservation number!
The lady in the office was rude and kept saying you are not in my system. I’m a middleman and can’t do anything.
After half an hour wasting our time she put us in a cottage reserved for someone else and told us that she will deal with that customer later!
The rooms and bathroom were very dirty, outdated and smelly. If we had any other options, we would have avoided staying there even for a minute. Luckily we had our own pillow covers, sheets, blankets, disposable plates and cutlery. We had to sanitize everything and were careful not to touch anything.
The place is shabby and falling apart. It is pretty unsafe to stay there. The municipality affair has issued a “stop work order” because they were doing renovation without proper permits (see the pictures attached). The lady in the office said they had to move people around because of this order and cannot accommodate people with reservations in some of the rooms.
Stay away. This place is just horrible!!

We had a double room and a family suite. Both of them were very dirty and old. AC did not work. The service is very bad only one girl when we checked in but in the morning no one in the office til 10 am. Its not even a 1 star motel.

The debris filled outdoor pool greeted us as we began our visit to Tobermory Resort, Inn & Suites. Check in at 3:00 was delayed until 5:30, then 6:00 pm due to unforeseen difficulties with laundry, which gave us more time to explore the neglected and crumbling dock and weed-filled, overgrown waterfront.
We were fortunate to see the local Fire Dept. Chief's truck from the North Bruce FD both on our arrival and departure. Two visits by the Fire Dept. within 18 hrs has to be a good thing, right?
The restaurant, Tubby's, was closed... So it really gave us the opportunity to drive into town and explore local cuisine.
Thankfully there was no air conditioning as promised on the website (management stated the website is being updated to reflect this, but it hadn't yet happened as other guests were pointing out to management). Without A/C we could really experience the warm summer weather in the flat roofed shack with the tiny one foot windows.
Overall, we loved Tobermory. The town that is, not the "Tobermory Resort, Inn & Suites".

Where to start!! Arrived early after long drive and wanted to check in to get water view.
Was told on the desk phone that check in was 3. Didn't need to get in the room, just wanted to secure a good view. Arrived back at 3 to join a long line of guests, out the door. No A/C in the old, dated lobby and attendant arrived 3:20.Two problems with check in of guests ahead of us, out of 4, not good odds and the receptionist had to take each guest personally to their rooms. The woman had to write the wi-fi code each and every time for each guest. Each guest needed to give their visa in case we smoked in the room or damaged the room. Funny, I have never been sternly told this before in any of the nice hotels I have been in.
Could have had a photo copy of the code to speed up time, common sense not so common and could have been done during closed months. Upon arrival, outdoor pool was empty concrete and indoor was still being fixed. Room was dated and dirty.
Had to go up rickity, weathered stairs carefully to plywood replaced door. Water pressure varied, no sink stopper, dirty tub and moldy. Old style tv, few snowy channels, sun shreddeed curtains had been left open on the hottest day of the year with sun beating in. A/C half worked but not on, not a nice welcome, a hot sunny room. Old deck chairs dirty, deck needed paint, frames of sliding door needed paint.Stains on carpet, desk and bobby pin on floor, who knows how long!! No fridge, microwave as stated. Paid $145 each night and had booked 2 nights. Cancellation is 7 days so stuck. Free "breakfast" consisted of a muffin (sign said one per guest) and the worse, watered down coffee my husband couldn't finish. Big sign too saying not to bring in your own food!! Never seen that in all my travels!! No toast, even thou the sign said toast and they had butter and jam out!! No juice, just hot water for tea and coffee. Tables and chairs rough in poor shape. I know things take time to renovate but dollarstore tablecloths are a cheap cover for the moment and a nice breakfast does not cost a fortune. Day 2 breakfast saw the same muffins from the
day before but now in a smaller basket. Only opened at 8am and NOT before as the sign said. Bit late for a lot of travellers.
Room was not made up or touched (not even garbage dumped) on second day. We were really stuck in this poor dump. They were working on some rooms, I think but
they were still charging a horrible price for a sub-par motel. Read how the management comment to some posts, what do you expect for a 2*?? I expect the price to reflect that fact.
How many parents had to explain to their kids that there is no working pool. Can't stand sites that lie and mis-represent themselves. There was a reason that this seemed to be the only place with a vacancy on short notice.
With a lot of fixing up, this place would be nice but until then, price review and truth on their website is necessary. They hope you get stuck and it ends up filled due to this. I have pics to support my claims, if needed.
I am a world traveller and this comes within the 2 worst hotels I have ever stayed in.
The poor receptionist (maybe manager) was the only staff we saw. She was a one woman show and tried but can't do it all herself. She was great at suggesting places not to miss, and how to get there.
