A great option in the King Valley

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 1 Nov 2015via mobile
We really liked this place. Nestled in the King Valley off the main roads, what I assume was the owner's large family home is pristinely clean, 'the farmhouse' has four double bedrooms, a really well appointed kitchen and two bathrooms. It rained the entire weekend we were there, but there are also outside BBQ facilities if you wanted to share a meal at the chairs and table under the beautiful trees when the weather permits.
Apart from the quiet ambience and lovely views, the house is also a great place from which to set out and explore the wineries and local eateries. We thought using the kitchen and dining together at the large table was preferable on a Saturday night. We'd bought local ingredients at the market in Milawa and made the most of them.
Note there is no phone service. This forced those of us who constantly check work emails to take some time off, so it's not such a bad thing!
Another bonus and true to the Italian influence of the area, there was a bocce pit on site.
We will stay here again for sure.

Mobile service is now available! A new Cheshunt South mobile phone tower was built and operational in late 2019. 3 to 4 bars all over the farm!

We were welcomed by Gina and Marco and shown through their lovely Old Kiln house. It is truly beautiful. Lovely old classic tobacco kiln now used as accommodation. New kitchen and bathroom with comfortable living and bedroom with views of valley. King River across the road where we watched platypus play. Gina gave us a brief rundown of the history of area and kiln house which was interesting. If you want to try somewhere unique, then I recommend staying here.

We stayed in the Kiln which suffered from a major deficiency -no Telstra internet nor mobile phone. We had to drive about 6 kms before access became available. Clearly Telstra has not done its job in catering for tourists in the King Valley. Other than the issue of isolation (and possibly the steep stairs to the bedroom) this facility has everything you need including a very comfortable bed. The bath towels could be larger for those of us that aren't small

Room tip: Only one to choose from although the owners apparently have other accommodation elsewhere

What a beautiful place. Everything you could need in the kitchen, comfy beds and a roaring log fire along with reverse cycle heating cooling if needed. Fluffy towels, comfy chairs and a dining table that we sat around and chatted for ages. Ideal for a small group of large family. And even the local cows gave us a warm welcome too. As a bonus ask Gina to give you the history of the tobacco industry. Plenty of wineries to visit also if you need to spend a lazy afternoon.

My husband and I stayed at the Kiln at Glenmore Springs over the Queen's Birthday Long weekend and absolutely loved it! We made the booking at the last minute as this was one of the only places available in the King Valley (due to a last minute cancellation).

Gina and Marco were nothing but warm and welcoming from the beginning. They knew we were arriving late in the evening from Melbourne and went out of their way to put some free range eggs, bread, bacon and other bits and pieces in the fridge just in case we hadn't eaten.

When we arrived (which was quite late), Marco kindly showed us to the Kiln where he had already gotten the wood heater started. It was so warm and cosy.

The Kiln itself is very quirky and comfortable. It's a renovated tobacco kiln with a wood heater, full kitchen, bedroom upstairs and a little balcony. It's no 5 star hotel, but it had everything we needed and there were personal touches all through it.

We loved our time at Glenmore Springs and would recommend the Kiln to any couples looking for a country getaway.

Room tip: Close to the King Valley wineries, walks and trails. Probably not recommended if you have trouble with stairs as the bedroom is upstairs.
