“The best holiday villa we've ever stayed in”
Reviewed 19 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

House lived up to all expectations - spacious, really clean and brilliantly equipped. Outside area amazing - pool really large and well maintained, lots of outside space for relaxing. Kay and Bernard live next door and are brilliant hosts - it was a real pleasure getting to know them and picking their brains about the local area. Their garden is open to all to wander about, and to look at the lovely plants and get to know the menagerie of animals they keep! Perfect base for Las Alpajurras, Sierra Nevada, walking, exploring, and even getting to the coast and Granada. Perfect in every way!

“How I wish we were still there now...”
Reviewed 11 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

This is a wonderful place. - The house itself is lovely: tasteful, unfussy decor, comfortable & cosy. But you won't be inside for long... Go out your door and there is a lovely private pool, little nooks to sit and read under blossoming trees, two friendly cats dozing in the shade, a backdrop of the Sierra Nevada hazy in the sunshine, the scent of jasmine and oleander drifting by and everywhere, everywhere delicious oranges to feast upon.
Kay and Bernie are helpful, friendly, generous and sensitive hosts.
We would definitely go back again.

Liked best: G&T tastes so much better with lemons from your own tree and and when drinking it by your own pool!
Liked least: The owners' two dogs are really lovely, but in his friendly, bouncy enthusiasm one of them was a bit overwhelming for our children. - Other kids would probably love him though. NB/ The dogs do NOT come into the private garden so it's not a problem!!

“Enjoy Spain off the beaten track”
Reviewed 10 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Las Chimineas. Kay and Bernie were very
friendly and accommodating hosts. We were enchanted by the gorgeous garden they
have created and enjoyed picking and eating lots of delicious oranges. The area is
fascinating and offers a wealth of hiking trails. It was wonderful to come back to the cottage
and enjoy a swim in the lovely pool.
The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable and offers families a respite from
the often too- busy pace of holidays.
thanks Kay and Bernie!

“Rustic casita in scenic location”
Reviewed 2 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We rang Kay once we arrived in Orgiva (approx 2km from the casita) so she could come out to meet us. Great directions, easy to follow with a warm welcome from Kay and Bernie. We were shown around the casita and then shown their property (grounds) which you’re welcome to walk through – they have chickens, geese, turkeys and pigs (you’re welcome to feed the pigs your leftovers but they don’t like citrus or onion!) as well as 2 dogs and 2 cats. They have substantial grounds growing a variety of plants, trees, shrubs, flowers, vegetables, fruit.
Property is semi-detached (Kay and Bernie live in the other half but you have privacy – you might catch a glimpse of them as you walk down the path to the pool area or hear them talking quietly as they work in the garden but that’s about it). It was clean, airy, homely and nicely decorated in the Alpujarra style. Free WiFi and lots of leaflets about the surrounding areas, especially if you’re keen on walking. Kitchen well stocked with crockery, cutlery, condiments, oils, tea / coffee. Small bathroom with shower (no bath). We had access to 2 bedrooms (double and twin) and 1 bathroom as there were only 2 of us but there is actually 3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms. Couple of covered seating areas outside, ideal for taking a break from the heat. BBQ and spare fridge outside. Lovely large pool which was kept clean daily.
We enjoyed a lovely week here relaxing and took time to visit Granada and the nearby mountain villages. We also enjoyed lying on the sunbeds at night to watch the stars – fantastic! We had a late flight home (Sun) but luckily were able to leave when we wanted on our last day as there was nobody arriving until the Tue - much appreciated.
Pros:
Welcome pack on arrival – milk, butter, cheese, homemade jam, vegetables, wine and bread (brilliant!)
Great location - quiet, peaceful, mountain views
Close to Orgiva which has a selection of shops, restaurants, cafes, banks etc
Less than 30 mins to pretty mountain villages
Less than 1 hour to Granada
Kay and Bernie on hand if you need any help / advice
Keeping the windows closed during the day and opening once the sun is setting keeps the house cool (no need for air con which isn’t supplied as not necessary)
Cons:
We prefer total privacy so a detached property would have suited us better, but must stress that in no way were we intruded on
