OK for a couple of nights.

We stayed here on 2 separate nights en route North to Chiang Mai. Location in Tak for us was a good stopover point on the trip.

First impressions were it was once a very grand and spacious hotel. Probably the biggest hotel in Tak so the lobby, restaurant and pool area are quite large, as are the rooms.

They have a nice balcony restaurant overlooking the river, but after an afternoon beer in the lobby and paying 5 star price for drinks we decided not to, which was a shame as it looked like the only place to eat within walking distance.

However this was not the case as there is a very large street food market just along the street and so very cheaply we tried all sorts of local food. The location other than that is not good - we explored all around the area on feet but couldn't find one bar or restaurant. I assume there are some somewhere but they proved elusive.

The rooms was spacious but a few features showed the age such as several 'dead' electrical sockets, shower teasing you with hot water then cold - very fiddly and temperamental = old. WifI was good and stable, at least it was on my phone.

The highlight was the buffet breakfast. A very large freshly prepared choice of Thai and western food on offer and the staff here and in fact throughout the hotel were all very friendly and attentive.

On the second say I had a massage offered in-room. Thai massage for 180Baht for 1 hour which is great value. In fact it was cheaper than a beer!

In summary I would stay here again for price, included breakfast, and location. If you are in need of an overnight in this area I would recommend this hotel. Finally there is no problem parking which can be a problem in some hotels in Thailand.

Room Tip: Didn't book it but for a few dollars more the corner rooms look great,

We had a large corner suit on 6 th floor with a fantastic view down the river valley. Comfortable King bed, rain shower with good water pressure.
Tv channels no so good, CNN and a movie channel, but this seems to be normal in Thailand hotels. Dinner was very good, nice outside table, very tasty food, reasonably priced and good service.
Breakfast was included, nice buffet, some thing for everyone.

Room tip: Corner suits with river view, high floor

I travel to Tak quite a bit; this hotel is a great place to stay. It is very central and the river view rooms offer lovely views over the river and to the mountains beyond. It’s not a state-of-the-art glitzy hotel, but has a very nice, if slightly old-fashioned, feel. Rooms are a little dated but comfortable, spacious, and well equipped, and always very clean. I love the balcony restaurant overlooking the river and street scene below. There’s a live band every night....a two-piece reminiscent of sort you got in Benidorm in the 80s, which becomes a quiet karaoke for local crooners later in the evening. There is a brilliant adjoining nightclub with excellent bands and DJ, ideal for the party animals yet it is entirely self-contained so hotel guests get no noise at all. All in all, a charming, comfortable and decent hotel. I’ll consider it my base for all future trips to Tak.

So went on a road trip and ended up in a small place called Tak, interesting place lots to see.
We decided to stay the night and went into reception to see if they had a vacancy.
We ended up in a twin room for 1200baht about $50 Australian plus 2 free buffet breakfast.
The hotel is an old one and rooms certainly need up dating which is happening at the moment.
The hotel is positioned on the Ping river hence the name riverside. Some views are better than others and our room had part view of the river and overlooking a huge car park which was being set up for the Saturday night street market this is a huge affair.
Our room was a reasonable size with twin beds rather big however, it seems to be a common issue through out Thailand the beds are so hard that you could bound rocks off them should this need arises.
Breakfast was open from 6am to 9:30am there was an assortment of food for breakfast both western and Asian chooses.
No information provided in the rooms re: room service times that the restaurant is open ect.
We had dinner in the restaurant on site, seating was on around the pool and balcony overlooking the Ping river also live entertainment which had a nice.

In the title I named all the advantages, besides that the staff is very friendly and polite.
You can take a walk along the river and when you’re a vegetarian, there’s a lady at the night market nearby, that can prepare a tasty Pad Thai for you.

There are less expensive options in Tak, but if you want one heck of a great view of the Ping River with a backdrop of the Maesot mountains, get a wide windowed corner room above the 5th floor. Breakfast buffet is good, room is clean, beds and pillows are comfy. I tried first for sold-out trendy SoHo, and I'm kinda glad about how things worked out.

Room tip: Corner room gives great views if it's on the riverside.
