We have stayed here many times and decided to share and celebrate my 75 th birthday with 22 family and friends for a week. The manager and all his lovely, loyal staff could not have done more to make it a very memorable and happy week catering for age 18 months to 86 years!! I have received many cards thanking me and complimenting the hotel. Highly recommend it for any celebration or visit.

We booked this hotel as a special part of the celebrations of our golden wedding anniversary.
We paid an extra £440 to upgrade to a deluxe room with sea view in line with publicity photos. As it turns out the pictures were very misleading since Deluxe had nothing to do with the room we were allocated. VERY disappointed at the lack of any features like luxury furnishings & furniture really just a basic room. Bedside tables looked as though they had come from the local flea market & only one bedside lamp. No dressing table just a large glass dining table for tv & cd player.
To see the sea you would need a periscope fitted with a telescopic lens because of the tall vegetation between hotel & beach.
Just an ordinary bathroom, albeit with 2 hand basins but nowhere to place your toiletries, & no toiletries provided to speak of. Towels changed every day & bed sheets every couple of days.
We were offered a move to another room when the occupants went home but it was one of the same & nothing better was offered. We expressed our disappointment to the Rep given that it was a special occasion.
There are no shops close to the hotel & the hotel itself does not have one so it’s the long walk into Kalamata or take the bus which stops outside the hotel.
Entertainment evenings are performed by the pool & last at least until 11.30pm. Due to the design of the hotel there is no escape if you want an early night.
Food good & plentiful with a varied Mediterranean menu. Sorry not to have had more Greek dishes & Greek background music rather than constant muzak! All-inclusive buffets could be a bit of a bun fight depending on the number of guests staying.
Staff excellent – very efficient & hardworking with an eye to detail & always cheerful with a friendly word.
All the excursions we went on were excellent. Well organised with knowledgeable guides & Rep who went out of their way to please & educate us!

Room Tip: Don't bother to pay out for deluxe rooms - take standard, better value

Have stayed at The Filoxenia before and was very satisfied. My most recent stay a few days ago reenforced my opinion of it being a great hotel. The staff is attentive and helpful. The grounds and surroundings are stunning. Swimming in the waters of Kalamata, or the hotel's swimming pools were a treat. The fantastic buffet breakfast and dinner had a huge selection to satisfy the most finicky eater. It is family friendly and a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms with sea view are best.

We were enticed into this restaurant whilst walking into town on our 1st evening in Gouves, "freedom " was persuasive but not pushy so we decided to give it a try. It was not the most appealing of restaurants and certainly had no "view" to die for as it overlooked a dirt track road. However our food of moussaka, kleftiko and greek salad and half litre of rosè was delicious, the service was good and the added complimentary vino and deserts were a lovely touch. The bill was very reasonable @ €32, so an enjoyable evening was had.

From the moment we walked in we were greeted with warm welcome by Ms. Jenny. Hotel is located on the beach within short driving distance from the town. What made our stay exceptional was the amazing staff and good greek food. You get a feeling you are visiting friends, not staying in a hotel. Even when small problems arose they were resolved very quickly. Our daughter adored entertainment staff: Ekaterina, Luba, Dimitra. She wanted to do yoga every single morning. The Greco kids club staff were incredible. Special thanks to Mr. Christos Baloukas, Mrs. Georgia, Aspasia, Aggeliki, Ms. Jenni and Ms. Georgia (Front desk) as well as the chef of the restaurant for the delicious food. The housekeeping staff was very detail oriented.
We were blown away with the quality of the entertainment every single night: From the Romanian Ballet group to the Tenor trio from Johannesburg. We could not believe that this small hotel could recruit such talents. The Greek clown "Totos" had my husband crying from laughing so hard. Hope we come back and that same people greet us.Thank you!
