Wedding and honeymoon

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Sept 2012
We went to Six Senses to get married!
We stayed in a beautiful pool villa and had the most wonderful kind butler - Nisa. We arrived and checked in once we had been welcomed to our villa, seamless. The villa itself it stunning, lovely big canopy bed, gorgeous outdoor shower and the cleanliness of the room was second to none. Our room attendant did a great job throughout our stay, even putting bergamot scented oil on our pillows.
The outdoor bathtub and swimming pool were fabulous, it really felt so private and special. The wedding co-ordinaotr Khun Boon was so friendly and helpful in ensuring that the day was exactly how we imagined it. We decided to get married at The Living Room, the sunken salas over looking the lilly pond and the ambience of the whole location was beautiful. When I left my villa to walk towards my gorgeous groom, I was overwhelmed by the amazing flowers that had been used to decorate the venue and the Thai music playing in the background finished the whole thing off perfectly. The staff including Nisa and Alan, the GM, were all there to greet me and smile as I walked towards Alex. They looked genuinely as delighted as me. We had a romantic and delicious meal for two upstairs at The Mezzanine Restaurant, above the Evason restaurant. The two chefs did a wonderful job of providing us with great steak, jumbo prawns, fresh salads all finished off with mango and sticky rice and lots of champagne - it couldn't have been any better..
Until we got back to our villa and saw that Nisa had filled our sunken bubble bath up and decorated in flower petals our names, the bed had orchids, my favourite flowers, arranged over the it. My new husband and I certaintly could not have hoped for a better start to our married life!
The food throughout the resort was so yummy, must have put on a lot of weight! We really liked the noodle bar, and the girls cooking there were fab. The waitresses and waiters in the Thai restaruant were approachable and chatty, keen to wish us well. The chef even gave us a receipe we requested and chatted at length to us about food which we loved.
We learnt archery and were even quite good by the time we left, the chap who helped us the archery was a very good coach! We made use of the free bikes and cycled along the beach.
The gardens are superb and the crew do a magnificient job of maintaing them all, the resort is vast.
We never felt like there was too many other guests at the resort, it was very private and peaceful which is exactly why we picked it. I did try the Earth Spa out too and it was again - perfect! The huts are so natural and relaxing, couldn't fault it and the prices are what you would expect to pay in London, so nothing shocking.
All in all the most wonderful holiday (and wedding!) we've ever had. It was perfect from the second of arrival to the sad evening we had to make our way back to the airport. Nisa waved us off and we felt very sad to be leaving but very excited that we have the most wonderful memories, lots of photographs and even our own tree planted outside our villa. There is no doubt we will be back! Thank you Six Senses - every single one of you.

In June 2012 we stayed at the Evason Hua Hin for the 5th time in as many years. The staff at this hotel are really caring and make you feel so welcome.

Whilst we were there we joined around 15 other guests and around 30 staff on a free trip to a national park which is around a 1 hour drive from the hotel. This trip was in recognition of world environment day and the purpose of our trip was to plant around 200 trees / plants as well as dig out and create a salt crater for the wild elephants to use to enhance their intake of the vital minerals they need to survive.

We were accompanied on the trip by The General Manager and his wife who are two of the nicest people you could meet. The genuinely do care about the environment and should be applauded for the work they do.

It is also clear why this hotel runs so smoothly and it's because Alan (GM) takes an interest in all aspects of the hotel. We are now very friendly with several staff members who spoke highly of his 'down to earth' approach and apparently he insists on taking most of his meals in the staff canteen, so that he can listen to the views of all of those who make this hotel so special, where as some would just surround themselves with managers and be fooled as to what was really taking place around them.

If you want to experience a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings at a price that truly hits the 'value for money' mark, then look no further.

Can't wait to return...........!

Dear Sherlock_Holmes_007,

Thank you for your lovely review and I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Good to hear that you joined in with one of our volunteer programmes where we try to give a little something back to the local community. I heard that the trip to make the elephant salt lick was an amazing experience. I'm based in the Bangkok sales office so sadly missed out on that one!

Our host canteen does indeed do the most amazing Thai food (although most of the time is a little on the spicy side!) but I have to say that breakfast at the Evason wins hands down every time for me!

Hope you'll visit us again in the future.

Regards,

Jamie Crisp

we definitely recommend this hotel. Some points to highlight:

1) Service:
- We LOVE the cheering smiles of all the staff at the hotel
- we had a problem at our hotel room (pool-villa) and the staff immediately fixed it and provided excellent help. They even upgraded us to a larger and more luxurious sea-view pool villa. Very helpful managers with fast reactions and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptionally awesome excursion and activities guides and staff, must join the long-tailed boat trip.

2) Location:
- it's located 30km away from Hua Hin Town, about 30-min by taxi (800THB). the hotel has the philosophy of eco-tourism and thus is far away from cities and towns, with serene and beautiful environment.
- less air-conditioned facilities because of eco-philosophy.

Room tip: - Families might wish to have connected rooms - there are 4 sea-view pool villas enjoying the best views among all pool villas.

Dear Stepwonghk,

Thank you for your lovely review and I'm glad to read all of your comments! Our Pool Villas at the Evason are not connected however we have larger Pool Villas at Six Senses Hua Hin which can accommodate families of four with no problem! Six Senses Duplex Pool Villas or Pool Villa Suites all have 2 day beds for larger families. Duplex Pool Villa Suites are also interconnected.

Hope you'll come visit again soon!

We arrived at Six Senses, Hua Hin on 13th / 14th Aug 2012 on Honeymoon & immediately fell in love with its surroundings & the privacy the resort had to offer. We instantly recognised how friendly but more importantly attentative the staff were as we had our luggage removed from our transfer vehicle to a golf cart that then took us & our belongings throughout the lovely Coconut tree-lined pathways & Lilly Ponds to the front garden of our villa where we met by our Butler (Yes Butler folks) & other friendly staff who continuously smiled and greeted us with extremely warm welcomes (I presume as a result of us being newly weds which really was unexpected, but a nice touch to begin our Honeymoon). Honestly after approx 20hrs travelling from Ireland via England / Doha / Bangkok & a serious bout of jetlag setting in, I can still remember my Bride & I had permanent smiles on our faces due to this type of service which I cannot emphasise enough, was simply unique and overwhelming. Our smiles turned into enjoyment after we were left alone to inspect our beautiful Villa & it surroundings that had been reserved for us, the Honeymoon couple. We were met with a private villa (secluded from any prying neighbours) that had its own pool with a view of the sea. The privacy of our own pool was enjoyed during the day & we particularly enjoyed the privacy of having a late night dip before retiring to bed. The Villa had its own external lounge / living room area with a cooling fan & surround sound music system that could be easily controlled while sunbathing or lounging around the pool + the luxury of an external bath that was sunken into the Lilly Ponds a few feet from our comfortable double bed & was accessed via double sliding doors (very nice touch of luxury that saw my wife enjoy several soaks with the lovely scented bath salts provided). Inside the Villa was comfortable with all amenities you would need during your stay including a walk-in indoor & external shower room. The air conditioning was an added bonus & was welcomed after sunbathing or arriving home from excursions or a meal as it provided us with a peaceful & cooling nights sleep. The Villa was maintained twice a day during our stay to a very high standard by the very attentative staff who would arrive while we had breakfast on-site & amazingly be gone when we returned to find the Villa spotless clean & looking like we had not been residing there during our honeymoon. The staff would then return at night to "Turn-Down" our bed ensuring our Mosquito net was fixed in case of insect annoyance which except for a few bites to my wife's lower legs while sunbathing, there was none to discuss thankfully so Top Marks to those staff who carry out these duties in a happy & contented manner. The resort had everything we desired in terms of relaxation & privacy but unfortunately we did not get to experience any of the on-site Spa Treatments on offer (which my wife has regretted ever since). The food was outstanding on-site in particular the Thai restaurant "King Shai" where we dined quite a few times during our visit. Picture a dining experience with your table in an island surrounded by Lilly Ponds, then think of authentic Thai instrumental tunes being played by local musicians & you only have a slight insight to what we experienced on a number of occasions - Oh before I 4get order the deep fried Garlic King Prawns & the Lobster, Pure Bliss. The staff who yet again where amazingly good at what they do, got to know us both & what we liked to eat including the wonderful spicy Papaya Salad which we ordered on each visit (this is Thailand on a plate, try it)! We would particularly like to thank the Guest Manager Alan & his beautiful wife Ute for their hospitality, assistance and professional manner in dealing with our only major concern that took place at the beginning of our honeymoon. We would also like to offer our sincere thanks to Ute & Alan by providing their knowledge and assistance of the area that included a day trip to the local golf course after much harassment from myself (a memory that we will never forget even though I got thrashed by a descent golfing enthusiast lol). All in all, the best holiday destination & resort we have ever visited with the service, friendliness and facilities being outstanding & leaving us both with proper Honeymoon memories that we will cherish the rest of our lives - OUR SINCERE THANKS & TOP MARKS ALL ROUND TO ALL SIX SENSES STAFF AT HUA HIN!

We would dearly love to visit Six Senses again next year with two children (aged 10 & 13 & staying in a Deluxe Suite No: 50) & would very much like to book this on our own & not via a travel agent (is this a better idea)? Any advice with this & flight ideas from Ireland would be appreciated (I think we travelled on an "Early Bird" special offer package for our honeymoon e.g. Stay 7 nights, Pay for 5 with a further discount if booked before certain date etc). We will also be trying to find out about special offers at the Six Senses that we could avail of however, we are concerned other travellers comments on this site imply it is difficult to book a holiday via the Six Senses / Evason website? What we would ideally like is a long stay between 14 & 21 nights with hopefully Spa treatments included in any Special Offer rates.

Room tip: If ur looking 4 a decent sized private swimming pool per couple to relax then stay at the pool villas or for family of 4, Deluxe Villa Suites that hav bigger pool.

Dear Stephen F,

WOW! Well what can I say but a huge, sincere thank you for your absolutely lovely review. I am very happy to read that you had an amazing honeymoon with us.

For your next visit, our website is actually easy however where people are getting a little bit confused is that it's two hotels merging into one in the booking engine of the system
(Evason Hua Hin and Six Senses Hua Hin). Anyway, best thing to do I would suggest, is that you just email me your details directly at dos-huahin@sixsenses.com and I will look at something special for you. For flights from Europe, again I would suggest looking on one of the flight internet search engines such as 'Kayak' etc.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Can only agree with others in that this is a great hotel! Evason are though doing themselves a dis service in that the Hotel has a really nice Gym (that is free to use) and there are no pictures or real mention of it on their web site.

OK it is small and only has 15 pieced of equipment but they are all well maintained, it is nice and cool and there is a good supply of cold water, towels (even cold ones from a fridge) and a bowel of fruit.

Yes if you want a gym it will not be as good as the one you use back home but if like us you feel you need one while you are away this will do nicely! Owe and to get in you have to cross a pond on some stepping stones and there cannot be many places that you have to do that to get to the gym!!!

Dear simonrwright,

Thank you for your comments and glad you found our Fitness Centre of use during your stay! Maybe it was a result of the breakfast buffet?? Kidding aside, I'm glad that you had a great stay with us and hope you'll venture back our way again in the future.

I searched for quite awhile to find the perfect place for the weekend. We had been travelling extensively in Asia, just moved, very very busy at work, etc, etc. So for the first weekend that we were able to get out of Bangkok, we chose Evason Hua Hin. We slept like babies. I loved putting down the mosquito nets...makes it pretty cozy. As others have said, yes the washrooms do need updating. The older tiles give the appearance of being dirty, but they are not. However, the fragrant orange bath salts make up for that.
My husband was especially fascinated with the washroom near the breakfast area. It's an eco friendly, semi outdoor, washroom. With quite a happening frog pond inside. My photo downloader is still in our moving shipment, otherwise, l would post a photo of a very talented singing washroom frog. People were prowling around at night with flashlights finding all kinds of other creatures as well.
Breakfast was very good. I loved the chocolate almond croissants and cappuccino. As for other meals, we ate so much at breakfast that we never ate lunch. While in the evening, strolled down the beach to recommended restaurants. The hotel offers a Thai show on Saturday night, but we opted to watch the sun set from a beach restaurant instead. We've seen Thai dancing many times.
My husband and l rented a scooter for the day as well. I highly recommend this. 150 Baht for the day. We had a blast. The roads are quiet, and you can drive several kilometres down the beach. Although, the next day we did require a massage from the beach ladies.
This hotel is very good value. We got an excellent rate through asia rooms. But Agoda also had the same rate. I also assume that families are getting very good rates as well, because there seemed to be many families.
We will go back for sure.
The separate units look pretty decadent.

Dear msbm,

Thank you for your comments and I am really happy that your research paid off and you found us! Am very happy, as always, to read that you had a great experience with us.

By the sounds of it you have just moved to Bangkok is that right? Well we are only down the road and you can also fly now with Thai Regional Airlines which makes us even quicker to get to (although you have to get to Suvarnabhumi first!)

A chocolate almond croissant and a loo with a view are waiting for your next visit!! (But just not at the same time I hope!)

Until the next visit!
