“comfort and location”
Reviewed 15 December 2016 for a stay in November 2016

Loved the location right on the beach at the top of the boardwalk. Clean, Airy and spacious, comfortable, incredible views; enjoyed the sunrise and sunset on the balcony. Loved being able to walk to great restaurants or hop on a bus. Water was warm, clean and enjoyed the turtle siting's. Advise that you do purchase the extra air condt. Perhaps add a few more dishes to the kitchen and provide a few more towels. I would have liked a sound system to connect into. We had 9 people in the full house the first week and managed well. Enjoyed just the upper unit the second week with 4 people

“Relaxing in Barbados”
Reviewed 10 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We could not ask for a better place to stay. A total of 11 of us rented the upper and lower units of Camelot. The house worked out perfect for all of us. We loved the fact that it was right on the beach, the rocks in the water made it feel like our own little swiming area. We even saw turtles quite a few times swimming. It was nice that we A/C at night in our bedrooms, everyone slept so comfortably, hearing the ocean waves felt very soothing. The upper unit has a nice big kitchen, so we pretty much cooked all our food in there. Alexis even went shopping for us before we got there with a few items to tie us over till we were able to make it to a grocery, there were lots of restaurants nearby also. Rick and I were there for 2 weeks, inbetween the first and second week, Juliet came by to change the sheets and did a fantastic job of cleaning the units for us. We all enjoyed our stay here.

“Nice house, gorgeous views”
Reviewed 27 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We stayed for a week with 5 ppl, the youngest 15, the oldest 76. There was more than enough room for all of us and it was a comfortable stay. The views are stunning from the patio, which is exactly as pictured.

Bedrooms: There are 2 bedrooms. The master has a king sized bed with a small balcony (with a table and 2 chairs), a tv, 2 night tables and 2 closets and an a/c unit and ceiling fan. I found the bed to be very comfortable, my husband found it too hard. The tv has a menu to choose from for movies and shows. It was beautifully decorated and was my favorite room in the house. The second bedroom has 3 single beds, 3 night tables, 3 closets, a/c unit and ceiling fan, no tv. I also liked this room very much and the 3 ppl sleeping in it were happy and comfortable there.

Bathrooms: There are 2 bathrooms, one in between the upstairs bedrooms and one on the main floor between the kitchen and living room. Both are the same. They have a shower which is roomy with ok water pressure. Small sink with mirrored vanity (with 2 shelves) above. No lower vanity and no real counter around sink. There is a shelf above the toilet which was helpful. The lighting was one bulb, kind of like a spot light. Before the sun went down the bathrooms were very bright with lots of natural light from the windows. At night, it was very difficult to do your hair or makeup due to the poor lighting. I have to mention there is no a/c in either bathroom and the upstairs bathroom was literally like an oven despite us paying for the a/c in the common areas of the house (kitchen and living room). Opening the windows helped a bit, and we also used a floor fan but we had to keep the door closed for privacy. The downstairs bathroom was not as hot as it took some air from the main floor. Upstairs you need to keep the bedroom doors closed, so the bathroom gets no air and heat rises. If I could change anything about the house it would be to add air to the bathrooms.

Kitchen: The kitchen is large with a full sized table and an island with stools. It has everything your kitchen at home would have in the way of pots, pans, utensils, glasses, coffee cups etc. We made breakfast in here almost every morning. As I stated earlier, if you want to use your a/c unit in the kitchen there is an extra charge as only the bedroom a/c units are included in the price of the room. We didn't notice this on the listing, but preferred to have the extra air, so they charged us half price. There is also a ceiling fan.

Living room: nicely furnished with couch, love seat and arm chair, tv, coffee tables and ceiling fan. There are big double doors leading out to the large covered balcony. The view from the living room with the doors open are breathtaking!

Balcony: Large, covered balcony with absolutely stunning views. There is a large wooden table with chairs where we had breakfast each morning and spent some of our evenings. Just beautiful and relaxing. The selling point of the house for me.

Beach: the beach was nice and yes, there are turtles right there so bring snorkeling gear or at least goggles. The water is calm due to the rocks placed there to make a barrier. I would recommend water shoes as the bottom can have rocks too. The house has an umbrella and chairs to use, but the hotel next door sets up their own umbrellas and lounges which they let you use if their guests aren't using them. I only went on the beach once for a couple of hours during which time no less than 4 locals selling goods as a front for their real intent of selling drugs was a turn off for me. Its a public beach though, so there is nothing that can be done about it. The police walk by but seem to ignore them. To be fair, I found this to be the case in other public beaches we visited during our stay. Its unfortunate and I didn't appreciate being consistently solicited by drug dealers around the island.

Boardwalk: there is a popular boardwalk just steps from the house that will lead you to a few restaurants on the beach as well as shops and restaurants across the street from the beach. Its a beautiful walk during the day, but keep in mind it has no lighting at night. So if you walk to dinner you are going to be returning in the dark, most likely passing an abandoned building or two. We moved to the street when we realized this which is an adventure in itself as the sidewalks are nonexistent in spots. After that we drove to dinner, lol.

Location: the house is in a good location not far from St Lawrence Gap and Bridgetown. You have a gorgeous view and are literally steps from the beach!

Cleanliness: We found the house to be in good condition and satisfactory for cleanliness. Being on the beach is rough on a house and keeping that in mind, it is due for a deeper clean in and around the property. There is a mop on the balcony which I was glad to see, as it needed it.

Overall we had a very nice, comfortable stay. It may seem I made some negative comments, but it is good to be aware of everything so you know what to expect. If you choose to visit Barbados and prefer a private rental over a hotel, this home is a good option.

“Upper Camelot was Perfect!!”

My Husband and I traveled to Barbados this spring for the first time. We decided to rent a home on the beach in Hastings right on the board walk. From the moment we arrived til the sad moment that we had to leave everything was just perfect. We were literally just steps from the ocean, the view from the living room balcony and the balcony in our bedroom was just amazing! The location was great with the board walk just steps away from the property that led to many different restaurants and little watering holes. We also had a kitchen that we mostly used for breakfast/lunches then would head out at night to enjoy the local fare.
Our trip to Barbados was unforgettable and we very much look forward to returning in the future, hopefully sooner than later!
