Tim's little place is an amazing place to stay. We spent 10 days here in the height of August so the air con was incredibly welcome. We loved the privacy and yet easy access to shops and restaurants. The recently added slow cooker was a godsend. Pop down to the butchers at the bottom of the lane, get a bit of goat add lemon juice, oil, garlic, oregano and a dash of water leave on high for 5-6 hours and enjoy. The kittens were our evening entertainment especially when provided with ball on a string. Please feed them when you visit even if like me you are "not a cat person". We will be returning albeit at a cooler time of year. Tim was incredibly responsive and helpful when we had issues with connecting to the internet and Judy is always on hand for local issues and transfers.
The house is much better equipped than your usual holiday rental and you can tell it is a much loved home. The setting is delightful ,nestling in an olive grove, within easy walking distance of beaches, shops and tavernas. We loved it and will be back!
We loved our 2 weeks here. Wanted to experience more the living than holiday way of life as we were in Stoupa looking for a property for us to live in next year permanently, we love Stoupa that much.
This villa was perfect, far enough away to feel private and chilled out but easy walking distance into Stoupa and Kalogria. Very well equipped, we had lovely meals on the patio by candlelight with the kittens playing at our feet. The cat family really are adorable and i beg any following guests to feed them, they aren't a nuisance at all.
I would recommend some transport though if only for going to supermarkets and disposing of rubbish. There are some beautiful mountain villages in the area with lovely tavernas and it would be a shame to miss them. We had a scooter from Steki motors (less than 20 euros a day (ask at Stekis on the beach) and a car for 1 day from the wonderful Maria at Mani cars, do go and see her if you want to hire a car.
Judy who collects you from the airport if needed is lovely and a source of lots of info. All in all a completely stressfree holiday from booking to getting home and it has given us a real taste of what our new adventure will be like.
Location perfect for beautiful beaches, tavernas, supermarkets but in a peaceful location in it's own olive grove. The house has everything that is needed for a holiday in comfort, but with a tasteful ethnic feel which makes it so interesting. The visiting cats and kittens are a delight and very entertaining, not intrusive at all.
The owner Tim, responded quickly to any question we asked and we were certainly made very welcome. Fans, air-con, shower, kitchen and living room great, and the most comfortable bed and pillows we have ever had on a holiday.
It was a superb place to stay and we look forward to returning next year.
Thank you Tim, Judy and Steve.
We booked the house through Tripadvisor, and the process was quite simple. Tim the owner was very helpful and very prompt in all his replies, and the guidance notes he sent us for the villa were the best we've ever had . We also booked the airport transfers through Tim, and we were met at the airport by Judy, who was lovely and took us to the supermarket on the way to the villa so we could load up with provisions.
The villa is in a quiet location and is about 20 minutes walk into Stoupa, and even less to Kalogria beach and a couple of good supermarkets. The villa is very well equipped, with ceiling fans, aircon and a mozzie net over the bed to ensure a peaceful nights sleep. The kitchen had everything we needed although we didn't actually do any cooking, only preparing salads etc. The music amp was very handy for connecting to my ipad and listening to my music inside or out. The wi-fi had a strong signal and was quick enough for surfing the net. There is a good sized shower with all the hot water you need from the electric heater although the temperature control could be a bit better.
Outside there is a decent size terrace with table and chairs for alfresco dining and a good sized garden for sunbathing on the two sunbeds if you wished. The only downside to the villa for us was the resident cats and dog. These animals were at the villa almost constantly during our stay. We quite enjoyed the cats because they had some kittens and we liked to watch them play. We did feed the cats each morning with cheap cat food from the supermarket, and once they were fed they would wander off. The dog however, was a problem. It is a lovely friendly dog and is owned by the guy who lives in the next house down the lane although you would never know it. The dog was at the villa constantly and would follow us to the beach during the day and even to the restaurants at night. This became a problem, and would stop us from returning to this lovely house.
Stoupa itself is great with good beaches and plenty of tavernas, restaurants, snackbars and a lovely cake shop too. We went a couple of times to Kalogria beach and had to pay 5 euros for sunbeds and umbrella which is very reasonable, but on Stoupa beach most of the sunbeds in front of the tavernas are free and they simply ask you to buy a drink or have something to eat, and will gladly serve you on the beach if you want. We used the sunbeds in front of Cafe Aktaion most of the time and the snacks were very good and very reasonably priced.
This was our first visit to Stoupa, but it will not be our last.
