I stayed here for a week with my extended family. The pool was very nice, big enough to swim in and for the kids to play in. Sun lounging area was nice but a couple of more sun beds would be a good addition. There were pool toys available which were very much used by our kids.
The view from the house was fantastic, it is up on the hillside 150 meters above sea. The road up to the house is very good and wide so no problems there. Closest supermarket is down by the big road a 5-minute drive away. There is a small shop up in the Neochori-village as well, but note that it is closed mid-day. The house has a huge terrace on the upper floor, but it is only accessible through one of the bedrooms (the one with two separate beds), so it is really not usable. Very sad, as the view from up there is even more amazing.
The pictures from the house are a bit misleading, as they are probably taken with some kind of wide angle lens and thus everything looks much bigger than they really are. Parking space looks huge in the pictures, in reality it could accommodate two category D -cars in a way that you could not drive the one further in out of the yard before the other one closer to the gate was out of the way. (Ok, maybe you could, if you are not worried about getting either of the cars scratched.) There were not two bathrooms in the sense that you use bathroom for taking a shower, only the bathroom in the upper floor had a shower (bathtub) that you could wash something else than your feet in.
Kitchen was not so well equipped as you could expect from a house in this price category. First of all, there were no kitchen knives, only a serrated one so we went and bought some knives to be able to, well, cook. Pots and pans was also a disappointing history, a huge kettle of some 10 liters and finally we found a small one, maybe 1 liter. Nothing in between. There were no preparing bowls of any kind. We wanted to make pancakes for the kids one morning and we had to use the huge pot (of 10 liters) to mix the batter in. At this moment we noticed that the electric whisk was broken. I mean, really physically broken, the mixer was in the cupboard but the insides of it were loose and thus not working. So, cooking anything was a bit challenging.
Vacuum cleaner was also not functioning, and when we mentioned this to the owner and asked them to fix it, the answer was that they will clean after our vacation. Yeah, but what if we want to keep the house clean during our stay? Well, use the broom! (Very difficult to use the broom to get rid of flying things in the house, vacuum cleaner does it much better! :) )
Internet was OK and the owner acted really quickly when we ran out of data. A big plus for this one! :)
Altogether we had a good stay even though the house was not really what you could expect for this price.
The location of the house was perfect: on a hillside with stunning views to the gulf of Messinia, near the beautiful old village of Neochori, not far from the village of Stoupa with supermarkets (6 minutes drive) and several good taverns and cafees. Within a few kilometers we found several beautiful stony beaches, good for snorkeling, as well as some nice sandy beaches. Also, the location was perfect for exploring the beautiful Mani peninsula.
We were a group of seven - three girls, ages 9, 11 and 12 yrs, their mothers and grandmother plus a friend of the grandmother. Maybe a bit disappointing was that only two of the bedrooms had air conditioning. Otherwise - the beds were good, even the sofa bed. A drawback was also the shower room on the ground floor: the shower could only be used as a bidee shower, and showering feet, actual showers had to be taken in the 1st floor bathroom - one bathroom for seven meant some queuing. Otherwise, the house had the amenities promised - though some of them found after a lot of searching. A drawback was also the hoover: the suction was very poor - we would have liked to keep the place clean for ourselves during our stay.
There was a huge terrace on the 1st floor, reached only through one of the bedrooms. A pity that we didn't find much use for it. The terrace downstairs, one third of the size of the upstairs one, was used for all the meals etc.
The pool was ever so nice, we all enjoyed it very much. We would have liked to have more sunbeds, though, there were only two of them. The space for parking was good for two cars. There was also a nice barbeque area, which we unfortunately didn't have time to use.
During our stay we communicated with the owner by SMS, email and phone, and got the help we needed, sometimes after some delay, though. Maria was very friendly on the phone, and reacted immediately with our problems with net connection and even with the blackout late Saturday evening (sorry we had to disturb you so late in the evening Maria!).
Despite the few drawbacks, we enjoyed our week in Mani and at Kelly's house a lot!
Nice house with a great selection of facilities. The owner was able to help us with everything and very friendly. Because of the location the temperature was perfect. Nice and sunny during the day with a seabreeze. But because of the location it cooled down in the evening making the aircon not necessary. The only thing that was a problem was the quality of the bed. The 2 person bed was 1.40m and was really hard. So sleeping was not fantastic.
