Review Highlights
Pretty little building.

Cool, quiet, within the castle walls. Plain and unadorned interior with a famous religious painting.

There are only about eight paintings that everybody agrees were the work of Giorgione alone. In the little chapel on the right, here, you will find one of them - and it will take your breath away.

There's no charge. But please note that opening hours are limited. The church closes at noon for three or four hours.

The Duomo in itself isn't a great example of Catholic architecture, however, a real gem is inside it: the Giorgione pala, a huge painting that has been recently restored to its original magnificence.

We were inappropriate attired to enter the church, but stood at the door and looked in. It is quite lovely and has a fascinating history.

It is a nice church not so much the simplivity of its façade but one must step Inside for there are a couple things to see namely a "Pala d'Altare " de Giorgione Worth to see. The painter was born in Castelfranco in 1477 +1510 This painter had an influence over several painters throughout the history of art.

Make sure you check the opening times of the Duomo as it closes for lunch at 12.30 and it would be a shame to miss this treat while in Castelfranco Veneto.

Georgione's Madonna is amazing and I must say I have forgotten everything else I saw in the Church

If you go to Georgione's House this Church is right beside it. I am sure he must have gone home for lunch when he was doing the painting!!
