What a little gem. We had no idea this Museum was here. It just so happened that we were browsing the internet, looking for places of interest in Badalona.
We read a couple of reviews and decided it was worth a visit. And well worth a visit indeed! Fantastic Roman ruins and extremely well preserved. A very informative video presentation and a wonderful display of artefacts. Would highly recommend for all age groups and abilities as there is easy access for all.

When you first go in they give you a film documentary on the history of Barcelona, which is very interesting and informative, there is a few artifacts to see on the ground level but nothing too much to see.
Its only when you go underground you see the real attraction of the museum, a well preserved Roman town. With all sorts of buildings from Homes to Distilleries which are all marked out well with interesting information and artists impressions of what the town would of looked like in its day.
Well worth a visit if you are interested in history.

This museum contains more well-preserved ruins from the roman period than the History museum of Barcelona. The tour I tooked included also a boat tour between the port of Barcelona and the port of Badalona (about half an hour), tasting exceptionnal beers in a very, very special beer-house and some free time in Badalona which have a beautiful beach.

The Museum of Badalona may seem another of these boring museums that try to explain you the life of Roman people in the Iberian Peninsula. Well, guess what, this museum is just more than a simple museum: in it, you can actually see how Romans lived. It has several historical sites, more important and well preserved than the ones in Barcelona.

Baetulo (as Romans called the city) was an important port and city during the Roman Empire. Thus, in the same building of the Museum, there are the remains of an amazing Roman bath, very well preserved. The illumination and explanations are excellent, and worth the trip from the huge Barcelona.

Besides that, there are several other venues to visit, a Roman house with one of the most impressing Roman mosaics in the Peninsula, a Roman garden, and some other attractions such as the old sewage system of the city or a part of an amphitheatre.

You can either enter the sites by yourself or hire a guided visit (which I truly recommend).

In sum, if you like Roman history, you must not miss this attraction.

A gem of a museum in the heart of Badalona.
We first came across this museum in 1995 and then re visited the museum again this year. Over the past few years it has certainly expanded to a large subterranean excavation area. English, Spanish and Catalan information is available for all of the exhibits.
Certainly worth the visit for something different than your usual 'above ground' museum.
This museum is also accessible for disabled persons.
