What a fabulous hotel, great comfortable rooms in a fabulous location. Wild life everywhere and then the dining was brilliant with a fantastic array of deserts. The swiimming pool was good with entertainment provided by the local monkeys

Room Tip: They all looked good to me!

We travelled directly from Colombo airport after a very long journey. We’d arranged for a driver to pick us up but, entirely our mistake, had booked for the wrong date. Luckily, there was a cinnamon desk at the airport and the chap there arranged for a car to come quickly to pick us up. Great. The price in hindsight was steep - 15,000 rupees, but for a 3 hour journey & after such a long flight we were happy to pay.

On arrival, we waited a couple of hours for our room to become available which, again, we were fine with because we arrived early in the morning. What was frustrating & annoying was that when we did receive our room, no luggage had been brought & we had to call twice & wait 30 minutes for the concierge to bring it. No tip for you I’m afraid. 24 hours & 2 planes since we last cleaned our teeth & changed our clothes - that stuff annoys you. Reception were not particularly helpful at any point in during the stay.

The hotel itself is beautiful, the surrounding are filled with spectacular wildlife... monkeys all around the hotel, cows, wild birds, a couple of non venomous snakes, squirrels and so on. The pool is pretty lush, the canteen serves a decent enough breakfast & lunch and we chose to eat at the al a carte restaurant in the evening which was reasonable & pretty good. Big thanks to Chimanda at the restaurant - he’s an excellent waiter & asset to the hotel.

We found a spa opposite the hotel for massages which was half the price, excellent & felt like a more authentic experience. Highly recommend venturing there.

All in all, a nice spot to recover from the journey to Sri Lanka and a perfect location for visiting the tourist spots. But, a big, generic hotel at the end of the day.

I stayed here in March this year on a group holiday.
Lovely grounds, restaurant and good room. Lots of things to go around the hotel, including a river boat trip with the ranger from the hotel- think his name was Answar. This was ex. Value for money and the ranger was very informative.
We also had a private cooking demo with thE executive chef. This too,was excellent and very enjoyable.
Friendly staff, lovely grounds, ex location. Only complaint was that I could not stay longer

I chose the hotel relying on the very good feedbacks here, but I got disappointed. I don't know may be for Sri Lanka it's indeed a good hotel but I didn't expect to find myself among the crowds of tourists' groups. Instead of a restaurant there is a canteen with the queues and very bad food. The rooms are poor, the beds are uncomfortable.
For the sake of justice I must admit that the service is on a very high level.

Staying here for 3 nights. Lovely spacious room and bathroom in colonial style. Staff very attentive and welcoming. Quiet surroundings with sounds of wildlife and a chance to sit and observe some cheeky monkeys!
Would like to have seen more sun beds available at the pool (which is lovely), otherwise a great place to stay and central to lots of sights.
