Owner description: Set in beautiful countryside in the south of the Isle of Man you’ll find a number of thatched Manx cottages at Cregneash which are open for you to explore and enjoy.Visit Harry Kelly’s cottage where there’ll be Bonnag cooking on the fire, speak to the village’s joiner and blacksmith, explore Church Farm or take time out to enjoy a service at St Peter’s Church. You’ll often see the fields being worked with horse-drawn equipment, craftsmen thatching the roofs, spinning, weaving and wood turning and have a chance to learn about the growing and preparation of Manx food.In the fields surrounding Cregneash you’ll spot plough horses, shorthorn cows and Manx Loaghtan sheep, whilst Manx cats (famous for having no tails!)can also be seen in the village.A picture postcard village, with beautiful walks available in the surrounding countryside including to the Sound, Meayll Circle (a megalithic chambered tomb) and to the rock formations at the Chasms.

A nice drive up to Craigneash and a large car park there. Free to visit for national Trust or manx heritage members as well. Staff are very friendly here and informative. The house burning turf is very smoky but authentic. Lots of sheep here to see as well and a chicken house just being finished when we were there.

I have been a regular visitor to the tea rooms over the years , was run by a lovely Yorkshire lass who made the most wonderful cakes and the waitress was a lovely smiley blonde lady , however they seem to gone and replaced by a young bloke with a beard and a woman with red hair , totally out of place and poor service and food , had heard the place was going downhill and can now see why !!

A collection of buildings containing artifacts from the early 1900's. Positives here are the buildings themselves and the real people telling the stories. As well as the ticket office there were narrators in Harry cottage and in one of the other cottages who was into knitting.
Other unmanned area such as the blacksmiths and farm needed interpretation boards. A charming and atmospheric place. Good value as part of a £20 holiday pass.

Don't be put off by the remote and at times bleak setting of this museum. It's well worth a visit and appeals to people of all ages. The staff clearly know a lot about their area of history and it's really beneficial to see aspects of social history first-hand. Don't forget to say hi to Bonnie the manx cat!

We had a glorious day wandering around the village in the sunshine. All the staff were knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. Restaurant is a bit expensive. I was disappointed the computers with the Manx language on were not working. A great place to spot Manx cats. Lovely shop too.
