The room was very old, dirty with a lot of spiders and scorpion too. All the bathroom had infiltration and to turn on the bathrooms light you have to plug the thread on the socket that was in the room, the windon was broke and to close the windon they have a fork. They dont have air condicional (in the website says that the rooms have air condicional),they dont have normal water to take a shower ...they have just salt water from the sea.
We talked with the owner (was a english guy) but he didnt want to give back our money. We explained that we bought another room but no way!

We decided to go to the Gilis last minute (during high season), and after a dozen calls and even more emails, we realized that finding an accommodation was going to be tough. We got a great rate for the Bird Park Resort and set out for a week. First off, the hotel is not on or close to the beach, but in the Gilis, "close" is a relative word since the islands are tiny. We were about 15 minutes from the east side of the island ("town").

Yes, there is a bird park onsite but we never heard any noise from that and, in fact, we never went into it. Not much thought was put into the designs of the room. Everything is concrete and painted a drab, stained yellow, BUT the bed was huge and fairly comfortable. There was also air conditioning, for which my husband was very thankful. They also have a fridge, hot water heater, and microwave to help you out, but they were all in desperate need of a good clean and bleach. The shower is cold, salt water. Not the worst thing when you're at the beach all day, but after a week, I was ready for some hot fresh water. Oh, and your room never gets serviced unless you pay for it. There are drinks available for purchase onsite but no food. There are small local shops and cafes very close, but we found ourselves walking to the east side for breakfast and coffee in the mornings.

Just returned from a weeks stay at Gili Meno Bird Park. We Purchased a Scoopon off the internet. Their was only a bad review by usabound before we went. We didn't know what to expect, but thought if it is really bad we would head back to Bali. We took a fastboat from Padang Bai. We got it for 1 million Rupiah return for 2 at the TouristPolice on Kuta Beachfront. The cheapest we had heard is 800000 return for 2. They picked us up at the hotel in Tuban. It's about 1 1/2 hrs to Padang Bai and about 1hr 20 to Gili Trawangan. The Islands are absolutely pristine. The water is chrystal clear. We snorkelled every day. It was 32 or 33 degree's every day and about 25 at night. Remember to take lots of suncream as it is really expensive on the islands. I forgot my wet shirt and bought one off a local who was snorkelling guide.

Our fastboat did not stop at Gili Meno. We had to get off at Gili T. We arrived at 11am. It was then we found out that there are 3 different ways to travel betwwen the Islands. Public Boats, Shuttle's and Private Boats. The public boat (20000ea) was not going to Meno till 4pm. We were going to get a private boat but was informed it was 350000, and they won't barter very much with the boats, (or the Horse carriages) even though it was only about 500metre's to Gili Meno. We decided to have lunch and a swim and get the Public boat at 4pm. We found out later it is best to look for others going to Meno and share a private boat.

As soon as we arrived at Gili Meno Bird Park we were met by a friendly Englishman named Paul. He has been their since Nov 2011 and is in the process of updating everything. The Islands have been on generator power but they are connecting up the Lombok power. The other thing Paul is getting hooked up is the fresh water. At the moment the Bird Park is well water for showering, and it's cold. The well water is a little bit salty but not like the ocean. My wife didn't even mind it or the fact it was not hot as the outside temp was above 30 anyway.

Their was no TV but we didn't miss it. We would stay at the eateries till about 9pm wander back to the Bird Park and have a few Bintangs with Paul and the other guests. We never spent more than $35 AUD for 2 for dinner inc drinks. Breakfast would cost us about $10 AUD.

One experience left us with a bad taste in our mouth but it was certainly overshadowed by the good stuff. We went on a day trip to Lombok. We sorted a deal with the Taxi driver which included our tickets on the 5pm Shuttle back to Meno. After a very nice day, we arrive at the Bangsal harbour. We had paid him 70000 for two, which he was supposed to give to the boat dudes. He was one of only a few Taxi's allowed in the harbour so we knew he was connected to the Cartel that runs the boats as well. He only gave them 50000 then took off on another trip with new customers. That wasn't a big deal as it's only a couple of dollars. What did upset us though and especially my wife was that the locals started tellings us that the Shuttle might not go if no other westerners came to go to Meno. We should get a private boat for 450000. We said we had already paid our money for the Shuttle. If they had of told us that the Shuttle was going at some stage but they were going to wait to see if any others turned up, that would have been ok. Apparently they use the same extortion on everyone late in the arvo. The boat eventually went, but not before my wife was in tears, I was ready to deck some [--] local who was really getting under our skin, and we paid an extra 25000. By then I probably would have happily parted with 450000 just to get back to the hotel.

As I said that was only one bad experience in an overall great holiday. As Gili Meno becomes more popular, which it is, there will be more public boats. I would go back tomorrow if I could. We are back at the Gold Coast where it is freezing and raining. The Bird Park is not the Sheraton but the overall experience we loved.
