............... as the apartments/studios were in the main street close to all amenities and not too far from the beach (though this is located either down some steps or a short road with a slight incline). This was a last minute booking with allocation on arrival via Olympic Holidays and for the price not a bad deal. The room at the apartments was basic with twin beds, side units with drawers and a wardrobe. Also there is a small kitchen area with a kettle, fridge and two cooker rings for use. The shower room/bathroom as with most greek islands is not the best, no shower curtain or screen hence flooring can become dangerously wet and slippery.........!!! And the shower flow wasn't always the best!!! All rooms seemed to have a balcony though we chose not to use ours to sit out as not the best view in the world (another apartment block very close by). Air conditioning and a room safe were available and we paid 60 euros (which included a 20 euro deposit for the safe key which was returned on our last day) so overall for the week 40 euros for the air con and safe.

The Mi Abeli also has a restaurant which proved popular, as did the majority of the eating places in the main street (on which the apartments are located).

Staff were friendly and helpful at the Mi Abeli.

I read the reviews on Trip Advisor after booking, and I was worried....when we arrived the staff were friendly and offered a free drink on arrival, we stayed in room 11 which had no beach view and was furnished with twin beds, two ring electric cooker, fridge and bathroom. The air conditioning was a god send and well worth the extra money. The maid services the rooms six days a week and was a very pleasant lady, the balcony was small, but we got full sun on the balcony from lunchtime till sunset.

This is a two star establishment, and could make some simple changes to upgrade, such as the bathroom layout, but the beds were comfy and clean and its a shame no one sings the praises of the restaurant below too, as they offer great value meals all day long. The location is bang in the middle of the high street, but we were not disturbed by noise from the other bars, and its a stones throw from the beach.....all in all would I stay again, yes I would, for the money I have stayed in much worse places which have charged three times more.

Ours was a last minute booking and we were just glad to get any accommodation in Skala! Holiday company descriptions ("studio apartnments") do not assist as these, in common with many similar places, would be better described as hotel rooms with a fridge, two rings, and only the bare minumum in the way of utensils. It is, essentially, a very small hotel without any public areas. Having said that, for the price, the Mi Abeli was perfectly adequate. The central location is fine and the 30 Euro spent on the air-conditioning was well worth the cost. Being able to have the windows closed at night eliminated noise and cooking smells from the adjacent restaurants.

Room Tip: Room 16 was fine and had a partial sea view.
