This hotel and island is now my all time
The team here were superb
Mario the owner is gentle and helpful.
Teos oversees the restaurant and bar with charm and skill aided by his sister vasso.
Now when I want breakfast at home I will shout vasso.
Rooms are good standard and cleaned every day by agleta, not sure of spelling, but she does wonderful job.
Pool is well maintained and grounds are beautiful.
This is small hotel and dependent on the mix of guests most of whom were lovely but you can chose to mix or not.
Mario's boat trip was excellent and so good we went twice and Ithaca was glorious.
Mario is a wine buff and chose some superb wines for us at a reasonable cost.
There are some superb beaches and mounda and katelious were our favourites.
I want to return every year but my wife wants to try different places ,but she loved it and we will return. The hotel has a feature horse ferra who pokes his nose over the wall and loves being fed by guests.

This was our 5th visit to Villa Costa, and once again we had a very relaxing holiday. The gardens and pool are extremely well kept, and the rooms are cleaned to a high standard every day. All the staff are fantastic and we are always welcomed back as old friends. Mario is welcoming and helpful, Theo, the loveliest guy and being the a major component, serving breakfast, dinner, drinks always with a smile, not forgetting Vaso who is always smiling and Sophia, Mario's mother who still keeps a check on everything.
The atmosphere is friendly, so you do get to socialise and chat with other guests, however you can still have your own space if you prefer.
Obviously as Villa Costa is small, only 8 rooms, the evening menu is limited but there is always a choice, the food was fresh, cooked to order, of a high quality and delicious.
Mario's boat trips to Ithaca are brilliant, followed by fabulous lunch at Anti Samos, ending with a swim in clear waters at one of Kefalonias isolated beaches.
Although the guests tend to be of a certain age, our two nieces who are 20 and 22, joined us for a week again, they came last year, and once again thoroughly enjoyed everything about the holiday. In fact we have all booked again for 2019.

One can only book this small hotel through Sovereign, whose description of Villa Costa is OTT.
The grounds and pool are immaculate and the general ambience delightfully peaceful.
However, the accommodation can hardly be described as 'luxurious'. though our room was spacious and very cleaned every day.
The food was fine but certainly not 'gourmet cuisine' and the choice was very limited. The 'lavish BBQ dinner on the lawns' consisted of one skewer of meat (no choice) served at the usual tables.
The 'bespoke service' was not in evidence. The owner seemed shy and was reticent, though his right hand man, Theo, was amiable.
We had a pleasant holiday but felt it was overpriced for what it was. We have stayed at luxury boutique hotels in Crete for the same price and felt that Villa Costa was 3 star at best.

Booked last remaining room for two weeks 10 months previous.Ground floor which proved to be ideal for us.
Arrived just before the Heavens opened.Initial feeling was maybe not for us as too small and intimate. How wrong we were as we found regulars and newcomers very amicable indeed.Mario and his team made our stay most enjoyable.Teo and Sister Vasso great staff to have on board.Sophie, Mario's Mother gave the Villa a caring Family vibe.A little deaf but we managed to communicate!!!!!! All the food was excellent. Ate in every evening as Mario would choose us some excellent wines(at reasonable prices) to compliment our food for the evening. Also ate in at lunch time mainly.Had a very lazy holiday as this is what we both needed.
Had odd morning shower and storm which was so unusual for time of year so a Greek Coffee and Metaxa was taken for "Elevenses".Only minus point for us was bed much too hard but that is personal choice. Will we return?Possibly at some point and more importantly if rooms availble.Thank you everyone at Villa Costa who enabled us to totally unwind.Regards to all and to fellow guests of our 2 weeks there.

We spent a fabulous week here at the beginning of August. Our first child free holiday so the Adult only hotel was perfect. Relaxing, beautiful landscaped gardens, excellent food, 20 steps from the beach, which is shingle so do buy water shoes [ 6 euros in local supermarket] the water was very clean. Mario's boat trip to Ithaka was the highlight of our week, sailing around picturesque coves and hidden beaches that you would never see from land. We intended on eating out a couple of times but the food was excellent with 2 choices for starter and main so we had no need to venture out. Mario's wine matching was spot on and we have now been switched on to Greek wine. Theo and Mario and all the staff made us feel so welcome and went above and beyond to make our stay everything that it could be. We will without doubt return to Villa Costa.

Room Tip: upstair rooms have baths/hot tubs
