As a family, we are not winter sports people and therefore this review is purely for a summer holiday. Les Hameaux is smallish site made up of largely privately owned chalets of various capacities. Many are available for hire through the office on site. For this the management take a cut or fee from the private owners. There is no camping, tourers or static caravans and is more popular for skiing in the winter.
This is a quiet site with limited communal facilities. There are no child entertainers, bar, plat de jours etc. it is however, a well laid out, clean, relaxing community of largely French owners although there are Swiss and Brits. At the site entrance there is an OK steak restaurant and across the road is a family run restaurant that provides excellent Tartiflette(cheese, bacon and potato pie).
The village of Verchaix is quiet but Samoens two miles away has good restaurants, shops, town square, botanical gardens and bars.
Local walks great, municipal lido excellent, visits to Morzine, Annecy,Chamonix a must. I love this place but it is for those happy to make their own entertainment,BBQ's,reading, walking, playing with their children, bike rides etc. It is not a holiday camp with organised entertainment. Car almost essential.
