“Perfection by the sea”
Reviewed 19 February 2017 for a stay in February 2017

What a find!!
We have just stayed in the Blue Haven for the first time and it will not be our last!
The house was perfect for all our requirements; beautifully furnished, tastefully decorated to maximise on lots of natural light, clean and really well equipped. The view across the lough day or night is just wonderful. The village is quaint and full of friendly locals who are always happy to help or give advice. Local shops and pubs are all within a short walk. We enjoyed a number of longer walks in the surrounding area and would recommend visiting Castle Ward and Portaferry for a day out.
We will visit again!

“Bright, well furnished and perfect location”

A lovely house in a smashing location overlooking the water. Upside-down arrangement works very well and the first floor living rooms and kitchen are bright and well furnished. Everything we needed was there and there was a cheery welcome and help when we needed it. The well stocked shops and pubs are really close too. No complaints at all other than our own fault for not booking a long enough stay.

“Outstanding accomodation in Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”
Reviewed 8 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

My family is very familiar with the Strangford / Castle Ward area but even we were surprised to see the "direwolves" of Game of Thrones frame making a daily entrance not 20m from the front door of the Blue Haven ! The property itself is very uptodate and totally accessible for less able guests even though it is on two floors. The fit-out is full of little touches making it a "home-from-home". The views over Strangford Harbour particularly at sunrise are absolutely stunning. Stella and Marion are "on-call" which is not always the reality when self-catering. Our extended family had differing needs but none were disappointed. And all just 45 minutes from Belfast !

“Bank holiday winner”
Reviewed 2 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Myself, my wife and our two young sons aged 6 and 8 stayed in the house on the Saturday and Sunday night of the May Bank Holiday. House is of an excellent standard, well appointed, spotlessly clean and with lovely views over the Lough to Portaferry across the Narrows. It had those little extras from the wood burning stove to the wifi that make a stay an extra treat. We enjoyed a walk around the town and the first night had a great meal in the Lobster Pot. We spent all the next day at Castle Ward enjoying the bike trails, scenery, play parks, Game of Thrones locations, geocaching and a tour of the big house. Then we took the ferry across to the hotel for some more good food. The location of the house is so handy and watching the coming and goings of the ferry fascinated the boys. Top notch accommodation in a great area to explore. A real Bank Holiday Winner!

“Amazing, Beautiful House and such a gorgeous village”
Reviewed 17 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Stella was just lovely to deal with. Really gorgeous house, has everything you could ever need for your holiday, from a sewing needle to a fishing rod. We just loved our holiday. So much to do and see in the village. Loved fishing for mackerel on the pier. The ferry to Portaferry great. Fabulous beaches only 10 mins away. Castleward National Trust so good, beautiful walks, gorgeous gardens and house, great coffee shop and 2 great play parks for the kids. Game of Thrones filmed in Castleward. The Lobster Pot restaurant is a gorgeous restaurant with beautiful food and is less than 50 metres from the our front door. The Cuan is the other restaurant and just across the green. Great fish and chips there. Save the best till last, Kevin Og's shop, 2 doors down from the house, Kevin has the best ic-cream ever. Our 4 girls went every day for an ice-cream to Kevin Og's. Stella was lovely to deal with and bought our 4 girls a present when we arrived. Our girls just loved this and we look forward tvery much to going back again.
