Overall very good for a family get away. We bought a vacation package through Southwest. We added hotel transportation when booking the package. Very easy - found the transportation company and hopped in and took off. About a 45 minute drive from the airport.
If you walk on the beach be prepared to be hassled by the people working for the shops. We were also constantly approached within the resort walls to "tour and get a great gift" for a timeshare of something.
We were VERY disappointed in the advertisement of all non-motorized activities included - only to find out they secure a deposit for everything they advertise as free. You do get your $$ back (if you don't lose anything it is checked out under your name) AND if you want to use the catamaran they will charge you for a lesson and then have you put a security deposit down as well.
The buffet was overall good, lots of food, very basic. Variety for all. We ate at Akeru - AMAZING!! Our chef was very personable, we had a good time with great food.
We also ate at Mylos - DISGUSTING. Walking in it smelled like mildew. We were seated and the server acted like he did not want to be at work. The menu is not explained very well so my daughter asked questions and got an eye roll. To top it all off as we were waiting for our food we saw a mouse scurry out from one table under another and then to the glass case that is towards the front of the restaurant. My other daughter tried to inform our waiter. My looked towards the glass case and said well I don't see any mouse so there is no mouse here. We stayed thru the main course and got up and left. It was extremely slow - we left after 2.5 hours. I would not recommend going here.
The room was very basic - nothing fancy. Our room was old but we are not fussy, as long as it is clean we are usually ok with the accommodations.
We did not have a tv remote in our room, but asked the room cleaner the next day and she went and got us one. Our rooms were restocked daily in the mini fridge and the bathroom. Each day had fresh towels and sheets.
Security was ever present at the hotel day and night.
Michael Jackson show was AWESOME!
All hotel staff seemed very friendly and accommodating with the exception of the waiter at Mylos.
We would go back again.

Terrible everything. I have no enough worlds to explain. And I don't want to spend my time. Never go again. NEVER!!! Too dirty, too noisy, too expensive. Everybody wants dollars. Also meal was disgusting.

We stayed there for 10 night. It was amazing! Staff is super friendly and we became like a family, we all almost cried on our departure. Lots of activities for all ages, it's NEVER boring! Special thanks to Baba and El Chupy! The best entertainers out there! We all hope to see you again on our next trip to DR!

Among 3 hotels in Dominicus this one has absolutely best beach, with much more palm trees, shadow... bars and fun on the beach. Food is great, Brasilian and Japaneese are amazing... Rooms are nice. Internet should be free, it is 2016... this is the reason for 4 stars not 5.
Bayahibe village is 5 min with a scooter.

Good size resort..not huge nor small by any means. Check in was swift, declined upgrading to the private beach area. Room itself had the air on upon arrival, although the mini fridge was not), king size bed, spacious, and plenty of closet space. Mini fridge had 1 Coors Light, 1 7Up, 1 Pepsi, and 2 litres of water in it. Our vactionexpress guy, Robensen, was absolutely a gem, and truly helpful. Booked us reservations to the Mexican and Brazilian restaurants, offered excursions without being pushy, and gave us overall advice on the resort as we were 1st time DR travelers. We chose to do the Bayahibe full day excursion which was loads of fun. We were the only English speaking couple, and our tour guide made sure to translate everything to us. He was wonderful.

Passed on the Japanese restaurant, just not a fan of the food. The Mexican place was ok (our waiter was on point though, always ready to answer any questions, or swiftly refill our margaritas). Brazilian place a wee better. The other days we ate at the buffet, which was astonishingly loaded with food. There's a massive amount to chose from. The soups, by far were the best thing in there. Highly recommend them. The other stuff is a hit or miss, like anything at a buffet. French toast/pancakes/crepes/runny scrambled eggs were bombs in the AM. Make-your-own omelettes, while you had to wait in line, were worth it. Croissants rocked. Avoided any salami/sausages. You park it wherever there's an open table. Some are ready, some not..depends what time you show up. You may have someone swing by to offer up coffee, or wine at dinner, but that's about it. You're on your own for everything else.

If you ask for something, don't expect a friendly reaction, or thank you. Not sure how many times I said 'thank you' for something, only to get no response, or a blank stare. Baffling. I practically had to beg for 1 towel the AM the day we were leaving so we could grab a shower before traveling 6 hours home.

Mixed drinks were heinous. I recommend beer (Presidente), but even that is on tap. By day 2, I stopped ordering any mixed drink..just not worth the watered down calories. Couldn't taste any liquor unless you order it neat. The coffee bar was my favorite..they make a great cafe au lait, with a side of espresso.

80%+ of the staff do not speak English, therefore it was very difficult to communicate with them. Wifi was a hit or miss, depending on where you are standing at the resort. The pool area is heaps of fun, music and games galore. Beach was crowded, no surprise, but manageable and the water perfect. Lots of activities going on..always something either by the pool or on the beach.

The entertainment group was by far most memorable. They were entertaining, always smiling, getting people involved, full of energy, and by far the friendliest bunch. They genuinely looked happy to be there. Big props to them and all they do.

Overall, the beach alone is worth staying this resort. The buffet and outdoor wait/bar staff needs an overhaul..they look grim, angry, and like they cannot be bothered with the customers.

Will likely give this resort another go in the future, it's good, definitely not the greatest by any means.

Note to management: work on customer service skills with your wait staff
