“Bad experience”
Reviewed 30 June 2011

We just came back from the trip from the Palma Mallorka.
It was very nice apart from the bad experience in the hotel reception.Even though we have paid for the holidays in march ,they try to charged us second time ,even though we showed them copy of the receipt ,last minute confirmation etc.We called Lat minute.com and after several minutes over the phone last minute agent sorted out for us.Timor hardly said sorry to us.Reception worker made us feel like its our fault and why do we bother him.
Room was not clean ,bathroom had no towels.Went to reception ,asked for few ,got 1 !!!!
Everyone spoke german to us................which was quite funny. No english booklets in the hotel.German only.

Food was very good.Customer service very poor.
Hope it helps.

The staff were all very pleasent to deal with, and quite helpful when required. The room was basis but large enough and there were two balconies. Be aware that things such as toasters, irons, kettles, microwaves, hairdryers etc need to rented from reception at about €10 a week. The kitchen has cutlery, a couple of pots, knives, forks and two rings and a small fridge.. Its basic, but you will easily get by. the rooms are clean, airconditioned while we were there and a small TV only has 4 engish speaking channels, bbc world, cnn, cnbc and MTV. Sky movies and sports can be watched in the bar area. The place is a havan for kids and teens. there is a fun team that provides reguler entertainment for all ages, young kids, teens and adults each day, on top of the advertised kids club. We did not see any bored kids at all of any age. The pool is great with shade or sunny spots depending on what you want, but it is a very busy area, loads of kids from 10AM till 7PM at night. It can then get fairly cloudy and dirty towards the end of the day, but is filtered and clean again by next morning. The food in the bar is basic - burgers, chicke, steak, pork with salad/ chips, fries etc, but also stuff like paella if you want to wait. The entertainment is great fun at night, but we had an early sleeper so were in the apartment by 9:30 most nights. expect hypnotists, musical shows, comedians, parrot shows and all that sort of craic at night. There is waterpolo, rifle shooting, pool competitions, table tennis, art and a ll sorts of stuff during the day. I recommend to bring your own table tennis bats and ball, as the rent is €5 per hour. The bar is very busy with adults and children until about 12:30 at night. Lower floors are very noisy, if overlooking the pool, insist on floor 5 upwards, or look for an apartment on the other side of the apartments. We had 7th floor on the pool side and had a lovely view of the coast. There are 3 lifts which are more then adequate, we never had to wait. There are not too many bars and restaraunts in the area, maybe about 6-7. We went into palmanova a couple of times, which is 5 minutes by bus or taxi. Bus is about 1.45 per person, taxis are about 5-6 euro. there is a local supermarket (marcadona)and a lidl just before palmanove, 4-5 mins away, that is worth a trip when stocking up on food. the two local shops are massively overpriced with prices more expensive then ireland. It is anywhere from a 300% to 700% markup on the supermarket. Even water is massively overpriced. When shopping in the supermarket, they will call a taxi for you. The bus goes from just across the road from the hotel. Marineland is also located just outside the hotel, its a nice day but expensive. make sure you pick up the €5 discount vouchers per person. Aqualand is also a must, there is a free bus from marineland, but you must bus or taxi your way home, no bother really. you do not need to book through the reps to get this bus, you just have to be there. The reps will not accept the discount vouchers freely available. it is also expensive, but with discount vouchers, its OK, about €40 for 3 people, and all return visits are then half price.
The beach you are directed to by the hotel and rep is small, full of stones and not too clean, very disappointing. But if you take a walk around to the marina and past it, there is another beach that is really clean with a couple of retaraunts and all the facilities you would want. You can also bring a loaf of bread and feed the fish, with goggles, it is like swimming in an aquarium and quite spectacular, the kids love it. this beach is pure sand and really beautiful. there is a route that makes it about 8-10 minute walk from the hotel. As always, this journey is made easier by stopping for a beer along the way. palma is a must see visit, I would recommend the porto Pi shopping centre, but the bus stops about 5 min walk away. The cathedral area is fantastic too, but beware of prices in the retaraunts, especially for beer and icecream, ask before buying. The bus to thecathedral goes from outside the hotel and staps again outside the hotel. the shopping area here is the most wide ranging and best as we found it. The marina area is with all the million euro yachts and boats is Ok to walk through, but there is a very strong sense of exclusivity and snobbishness, which we Tdi not like, so apart from going to the beach on the other side of it, we never visited. there is a spectacular seafood restaraunt on the edge of the beach in palmanova, with great views that we would recommend, great paella, and great views. Nice place to be for sunset. If I had any worries, it would be that you had to rent simple items like toasters and hairdryers and that the local beach was not up to scratch. but apart from that, this place is the ideal spot for famlies. Would not go there if you were a couple though. internet also available at a price.
