This was our second time staying in Villa Carolina. We were very happy when we holidayed there two years ago and I'm happy to report that this is still a fantastic place to stay.
This villa really does have everything you need to enjoy a family holiday. Our 4 kids (aged 4 - 20 years old) made good use of the table tennis and the Xbox while the adults enjoyed relaxing on the fabulous terrace. I really appreciated having the filtered water on tap - there is nothing worse than lugging bottled water around when you are on your hols :-)
The swimming pool was probably the most popular amenity with everyone. The pool is super clean and obviously very well maintained. The child gate is also a nice feature when you have small children.
Linda and Richard look after this villa so well. From welcoming us on our first day, to booking a taxi for us to return to the airport at the end of our holiday. They are always available to deal with any problems or queries.
Villa Carolina is a credit to John and Caroline. It's simply a pleasure to deal with people who have such a professional approach to the whole process of providing first class holiday accommodation. From initial contact and booking, everything is clear and straightforward. Everything is just as promised in this Villa's Tripadvisor description.
We very much hope to return to Villa Carolina for our next visit to Puerto del Carmen.
Geoff,Kathy and Anna. This was our third visit to this villa with a gap of two years since the last one.It is well equipped and comfortable. It was a pleasure to stay in and cook in such a lovely kitchen. The pool is heated and we enjoyed our swims. It is a 10 to 15 minute walk to the supermarket, beach or harbour but taxis are very reasonable if you do not want to walk back uphill. The management team of Richard,Linda and Andrea keep the villa immaculate and are extremely helpful. They are a credit to the owner.
(Apologies for the late review - life got in the way!!)
We were a party of four adults (parents and two "big kids"), so we only took advantage of the 3-bed main villa, rather than the whole property, which includes an additional apartment annex on the lower ground floor.
The owners describe this villa as a home-from-home. But I would disagree... If this was MY home, I wouldn't EVER want to go anywhere else!!
The whole Villa Carolina experience was wonderful. I had never booked a villa holiday before and had heard the horror stories of "phantom" villas and scam emails, so was rather apprehensive.
However, within an hour of booking I received a phone call directly from the owner in the UK , who answered all my questions and more. Between booking and our departure date, John always replied quickly to my calls & emails. I felt very reassured.
On arrival, we were met by the lovely Management Team, Linda & Richard. They gave us the tour of the villa and explained how the (very simple!) security system worked. Whenever we had any queries, they came straight over - they couldn’t have been more helpful. John & Linda also arranged the taxi back to the airport on our behalf, which was one less thing to think about!
If you are looking for uninterrupted peace and quiet in a private, safe, upmarket residential area, this is the villa for you. There was no noise from other villas, no thud-thud-thud from nearby bars, just the sound of the breeze blowing through the palms.
Villa Carolina is also much bigger than the photos imply. The bedrooms and living areas have been meticulously furnished and are both comfortable and extremely spacious. The outdoor terrace and pool area extend well beyond the areas depicted in the photographs. (I would imagine families with younger children would find the extra space particularly useful!)
The kitchen is packed with top-of-the-range appliances and every pot, pan and gadget you could possibly need. Right down to the little things like ice-packs, teatowels and a selection of Tupperware storage containers.
The pool is solar-heated and if you decide to take a late evening dip, you are likely to find the water is more like a warm bath! Wonderful.
We usually shopped at the large Lidl store, which is an easy, 15 min walk from the villa. (Turn left out of the cul-de-sac and keep taking the left-hand fork at each junction!) Yes, it is “uphill” on the way back, but it’s a quite a gentle gradient and perfectly manageable, even with a bag of shopping. (The cashiers at Lidl will also call a taxi for you, if you ask them.)
The Old Town, Harbour and Biosphera shopping centre are also only a 15 minute walk away. It’s a little further again to down to the main beach, and I would mention that the streets leading down from main through-road (“Calle Juan Carlos I”) to the beach, can be quite steep. But taxis are cheap and plentiful if you don’t want to walk all the way back.
Villa Carolina is a million miles away from your typical ‘rental’ property. It's clean, uncluttered, co-ordinated and decorated in the utmost taste. Nothing here has been done ‘on the cheap’. The owners have chosen the best of everything and it was an absolute privilege to stay here.
A well equipped and comfortable villa. Everything we needed was there. Within walking distance of supermarkets, bus stop, restaurants, harbour and shops. Richard and Linda were both very helpful and we felt they would be there for us if we had a problem. We would like to return one day.
Just back after a week in Villa Carolina. Everything you could require for a family holiday already available. I really liked the filtered drinking water– no more trudging back lugging bottles of water. An easy walk downhill to town or beach and taxis back uphill are very reasonable.
