Situated off the main road and adjacent to Monks Cowl golf course is this small resort with 21 units.
The units are well spaced so you are not on top of your neighbors.
The units are well equipped with all the basic necessities, they are clean but a bit on the tired side.
They could certainly do with a spruce up.
Having said that it was comfortable and relaxing.
You need to take your own towels if you want to swim which was not mentioned on the booking info.
There is no shop or restaurant on the premises and you have to drive to buy supplies.
All in all it was pleasant and I would be back

Chalets are large with 3 separate bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The view of the mountains is spectacular and you are able to use the facilities of the Monks CowlGolf Resort. The resort itself has much to occupy children during winter or summer.

Room Tip: Chalets 1 to 4,14and 18 are the best

Champagne Valley Resort has wonderful views of the mountains
We had a very relaxing time at the resort and the area around
The units... More like houses is very spacious... With separate loung and dinning room, lovely patio Clean and neat

Only negative - no shop... Will have to go to nearby small supermarket to buy Bread, milk or even icecream or sweets

Room Tip: If you have kids, ask for unit near their play are... The grounds are big and far apart

Thank you for this lovely review, the shop is a pity but its a good thing its only a 5 minute drive. Or our neighbors have a small shop with cold drinks and ice cream sweet etc, that is a 2 minute walk.

I have visited this resort many times since 1988 and have never been dissapointed. There is so much to do at the resort and the surrounding areas that one week stay only just gives you enough time to explore this beautiful part of the Central Drakensburg. It has a kids play room and is connected to the Monks Cowl Country Club which has a fine golf course.

Room Tip: There are about 20 chalets and all of them are very good.

Excellent place. Beautiful, well equiped spacious units. 3 bed, 3 bath. Beautiful, well kept gardens. No stairs makes it accesable for the elderly. Great view of The Berg from the stoep and all the rooms. Only drawback, and the resort can do nothing about it: veld fires has caused so much smoke that you can hardly make out the Berg.

Thank you for taking the time to post this review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. The fire break season is necessary and it does block the mountain view, but it is only for one month a year so this can help with planning your next trip with us.
