Where do I begin?! My now husband and I were married at Half Moon on May 14th and we could not have been more pleased with our wedding. Unfortunately, we had a 'monsoon' the day of our wedding, but our wedding planner Andrea Smith made sure everything was carried out to perfection despite the rain. The ceremony and reception were simply perfect! From the food to the flowers, everything was exactly how we envisioned. All of our guests were raving about how fabulous of a time they had during their stay at Half Moon (many stayed in the villas), with one friend mentioning "I think that was the most fun I have ever had at a wedding!".
The grounds at Half Moon are meticulously kept. Our wedding photos were taken around various spots at Half Moon, each spot being more gorgeous than the last. There is so much beauty on the resort and no matter where you go you are reminded of that.
The staff is EXCEPTIONAL! My husband and I stayed in the royal villas for 3 days and then in an ocean front suite. The staff in the villas were so accommodating to us and our friends. Any special requests were taken care of by Rhines (our butler). I am blanking on the names of our maid and cook, but they were exceptional as well!
I could go on and on about how fabulous Half Moon is, but you should experience for yourself the luxury of this fabulous place!

Love this hotel, have been back many many times. There are few hotels that can compare, its quite special.

The food, rooms and staff are all lovely, a lot of effort is made to every guest has the very best time. The Half Moon is Jamaica at its finest, it has the look and feeling of Jamaica, which is lost at so many resort hotels. Take a room upgrade, the larger rooms are worth every cent.

We had another wonderful year in a Royal Villa at the Half Moon Resort. Although the Villa definitely needs redecorating (see the redesign of the Hotel lobby), it was comfortable and spacious. Kirk the butler has been taking care of us for nine years and he is terrific. Fixed all the things that went wrong the first few days and is very willing and efficient. The kids love him. Karen the cook and Carla the housekeeper were both excellent. We will be back next year!!

We stayed at the Half Moon for a week during our children's mid-winter break from school. Overall, it was an excellent resort and experience. The best thing about Half Moon is the way that it is spread out, and thus feels as though the resort is very uncrowded. With over 400 acres and a maximum guest capacity of just over 1,000 people, even at maximum capacity, it feels as though there are only a small number of other guests. There are a total of 54 pools and several long stretches of beach, many quite secluded. There are ALWAYS ample chairs at all pools and beaches. Restaurants are never packed - they have enough people to make them feel lively, but never crowded, never a wait.

There are five restaurants on property of varying degrees of quality. We like best the Itialian Il Giordino, and the Sugar Mill. Also, the off-property Mystic India was quite good.We weren't as pleased with the Sea Grape or the Pepper Pot, although both were reasonbly good. Also the beach BBQ on Monday and Friday nights was much better than expected.

The breakfast buffet each morning at the Sea Grape Terrace was decent - mostly because it was comped through American Express Travel. But had it not been, it may have been something we would have done once or twice throughout our stay, and otherwise ordered a la carte breakfast as The Pepper Pot.

Service at the resort is excellent. Very attentive, friendly and attentive. Front desk, concierge and restaurant/bar service staff were all very professional, friendly and prompt to meet nearly any request.

Now, the very few negative comments:

In the materials we received, we understood that there was a "club" for teens 13-17 that operated until 10pm with games activities and an opportunity for socializing with others. This was not so. With 13 and 17 year old girls who were very much looking forward to this kind of entertainment after dinner, to fnd it did not exist was very disappointing. While there are many many activities and opportunities available to children of all ages throughout the day, the lack of any evening/nightime activities was one of the primary disappointments.

Housekeeping - For replenishment, leave a note stating specifically what you want/need. We found that kleenex, q-tips, water bottles, beach towels, etc were not re-stocked unless we left a note - with gratuities. When done, all items were replenished with a thank you note. However, you dont want to wait a day or two to find out you need to request what you want.

Beach towels - while pool and beach chairs were plentiful and always available, beach towels were not always available. There were several occasions where visits to pools or beach locations were met with attendants apologizing for there being no towels available. Recommendation - ask housekeeping for extra beach towels and take them with you.

There are a variety of accomodation options, from private villas, to baech front cottages, to suites to rooms. If you are with a larger group, the private villas seem to be not only the most luxurious option, but also a relatively good deal - with private pools and cook. Given a family of 3-5, I would definitelt recoomend the Hibiscus Suites. The deluxe suites by Oleander Terrace are also good, and a nice location in btetween the main building and sunrise beach.

Bikes are available for free to make getting around the expansive grounds a bit easier, but depending on the location of your accomodations, you may also want to consider renting a golf cart.
