“Holiday Par Excellence”
Reviewed 25 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

My husband and I were recommended this getaway by his brother who had visited December last year, so we decided to book this place for a short vacation with friends. Very rarely does a place surpass expectations and this surely did!! Everything from location, to accommodation, to service, to food was excellent!! The place is very tastefully made and has an amazing chilling pad outside. The rooms are nice, simple and clean with attached bathrooms and a beautiful view. The inside living room is also nicely built and is quite spacious. It is fitted with state-of-the-art speakers, a good-sized TV and a wide collection of DVDs and books. The food was also very good - both in flavor and presentation. The chef, Bhagat, also organized a barbque for us one of the days. We had options of indian, chinese, and continental and although the food was Indianized in its preparation, it was very flavorful. The best thing about the place was its service. It has a staff of five people, led by Manoj, who is ever helpful and smiling. Since we were a group of friends on a relaxing/party trip, we had very odd meal times and the staff was always there accommodating with us. We would eat dinner at 4am and they would still serve us warm food with a smile. A special mention would also go to the owner, who we did not get to meet, but was still easily available on phone and took a prompt feedback from us on check-out. Overall, it was a fantastic trip and was much better than what we anticipated.

“Lovely Vacation stay”
Reviewed 13 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

It is a beautiful villa to spend time with your family and friends. All the sightseeing places are within easy distance. The villa itself is self sufficient with a well equipped library, nice evening barbecues at lawn, choice of movie DVD to view and Excellent home made food. Would definitely recommend this place to relax and spend quality time with family and friends.

“Excellent place still the same after almost an year”
Reviewed 11 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

I had a chance to visit the place after almost an year and to my delight it is just the same. I stayed there for 2 nights and the stay was very well planned. The team there Manoj and Bhagat were very hospitable. You get good view of the mountains, good place to stay, good guys to look after you, good food to eat and good books to read, i could not have asked for more.... Simply Amazing.

Because of all the glazing in the front the villa had a beautiful view of the valley and the mountains. The rooms and the bathrooms were nice, clean and the villa was very well equipped. It had a nice library, music system and a very good sitout on the deck outside.Had a lovely and memorable holiday with family !
Thanks to MR. MANISH ANAN

“A home away from home”
Reviewed 1 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Most hill stations in India during summer tend to get packed like sardines. Nainital is one of India’s most-loved hill stations but the tourists who descend on it during the peak season really test its capacity. Though most hotels renovate themselves and add more rooms to their inventory beforehand, these places tend to come apart at the seams when the hordes arrive. This has resulted in the growth of more hotels, homestays and lodges in the suburbs of Nainital. We had heard of The Cottage, the charming homestay at Jeolikote, and writer Tarun Tejpal’s Two Chimneys at Gethia but when a friend mentioned Crosswinds, located somewhere in between the two, we decided to give it a try. It turned out to be such a pleasant surprise for our family of four.
First, Crosswinds is a new construction with the result that it does not have the dampness and musty smell that one associates with the older hotels in hill stations. The architect has used a lot of glass in the construction , so there is a lot of natural light coming into the building at daytime. And as night falls, one can see the twinkling lights of Nainital nearby. There is no clatter that one associates with the traffic in a hill station during summer even though the occasional horn of a passing truck does have a eerie effect at times. The bonus is the location. You can reach tourist destinations like Nainital, Sattaal, Bhimtal, Naukuchiatal,Bhowali and Ramgarh within an hour, not to forget hidden gems like the mountain-top Goluji temple or the organic tea estate at Gorhakhal located nearby.
Manish Anand, the dapper owner, has used a lot of effort and imagination in getting this place right. I think he appears to have got the inspiration from the Swiss rental chalets where you can have the run of the place once you hire it. The pace is clean and neat, it has modern furniture and amenities. When it gets hot in summer, you can even turn on the split air-conditioners.
The in-house chef is a person called Bhagat, who gives his own twist of taste to the dishes that he whips up for breakfast, lunch and dinner. He is even willing to share his recipes with you. If you have any problems, the ever willing handyman called Manoj will help you.
The tariff may seem a bit intimidating but believe me, for the all homely comforts and tranquillity you get there, it isn’t.

Liked best: The non-intrusive setup
