The full cave and springs package is a must do during winter. The cave tours aren't quiet (and the caves are always the same temperature so winter makes no difference!)

As an added bonus the refurb on the pool and BBQ area is fabulous, and the open fires in the BBQ shelters are a wonderful way to have a winter picnic without freezing your beezle right off.

The gas flat-plate BBQs are clean, the shower facilities and outdoor areas are well looked after.

If you're really lucky you might even get to see a lyrebird but you will definitely hear them all around you.

Great for kids, stroller accessible. Dress warm, take a picnic and enjoy the magic of a Tassie winter in the bush.

If you like caves this is one to see when in Tasmania. The tour guide was very friendly and full of great facts. Very easy to get to and well worth the time

Glad that we drove all the way down to Hastings from Hobart just for the dolomite cave. Interesting and amazing place. We saw a glowing worm, cave cricket and had a wonderful time in the cave imagining things according to the shapes of the dolomite. Only four person in a tour during our visit due to low season, but this is much nicer than having 20-30 people per tour, which I don't think they have any time to take pictures and asking questions.
However, the thermal pool is just a swimming pool and is nothing like any japan hot spring pool.

We visited the caves and thermal springs walk. Be aware that it is not a hot springs spa resort set up. The thermal springs natural come up and feed a creek on the walk that meets up with the cold water creek.

Entering the cave and the tour was an experience. We saw glow worms, a cave cricket, and everything was explained at a good pace. All the staff from the guide to the visitors centre were friendly and helpful.
