If I ever wanted to build a house. .its gonna be like this.. perfect. .

Tall glass windows with valley view with a pool and open kitchen.

Food is awesome, with clean linen and clean bathrooms.

Hosts are great.

You also get the booking through OYO.

It's not in proper gangtok but rumtek..12 km from city toward south, but so is Mayfair.
It's further 8 km from Mayfair.

“A home away from home!”

It's a great place to stay with ur family in peace and in serenity. It accommodates 5 bedrooms on first floor and hugeeeeee living room on ground floor with a fresh water pool. Though it doesn't have much to keep you entertain as in terms of any activities around but still it's an awesome place for holidays. It's on the opposite hill of the Gangtok which is called rumtek near to the famous rumtek monastery. The hospitality of the staff was full of warmth, a big thanks to Vijay & Vishvaas. They made everything possible for us without any hesitation. You may also find a taxi driver named Prabhat, he is a gem of person as well.

Do not expect any wifi connection over there, a wifi router is present but with no connection. A Computer cabinet is present but without the display screen. No PS3 console is there as there is no Television present in the lounge. Everyday, you will not find the fresh towel to use and you may have to use them for couple of days.

Despite of all the odds, the evens wins here and the property and its people will win your heart.

Happy holidays!

“Brilliant Discovery”

If you're going to Gangtok with friends or as a big family, Maya Baas is an ideal place to stay!

Tucked away in Rumtek, the villa is still rather new and offers spectacular views of the valley, Gangtok town, as well as snow-capped mountains (if clouds stay away). The pool at the villa has natural mountain spring water, while the rooms and bathrooms are all tastefully made and highly comfortable.

The highlight of the villa is definitely the ground floor, which features a kitchen, a huge dining table, and a very spacious hall which is a fantastic place to sit down and relax/talk/play games/drink with friends and family!

There's a cook available at all times, as well as a caretaker and housekeeping staff. They are always around for any requests.

There are minor problems at Maya Baas too, although nothing serious. Here are a few things you should keep in mind:

1) Because of its secluded location, there are insects (mainly moths and bees) in the valley around the villa. So it becomes tough to open the windows at night if you're the kind of person who gets bothered by them. However the staff is always at hand to remove any insect from your room if required.

2) The food isn't as good as you'd like. We had an Indian lunch one day and a chinese dinner the next. Chinese and Indian were both average, although the momos were very nice. A big thumbs up for the breakfast there. The cheese omlettes, baked beans and scrambled eggs were great, as were the grilled sandwiches. Because everything is freshly prepared, it takes roughly two hours for them to prepare a proper meal, so order early!

3) The pool offers a superb view of the mountains, but the water is REALLY cold! We still managed to take a dip, although it was more as a challenge than anything else! It was fun, but do keep in mind that the water is always cold (because it's mountain spring water), even during the afternoon.

4) If you want a place very near Gangtok town, this might not be the best option for you. It takes roughly 30 minutes to reach MG Road, although the owner of the villa or the caretaker can always call a cab for you, which helps.

5) WiFi wasn't working at the villa during our stay, as the phone lines were dead. Hope that is something they resolve soon. We actually ended up enjoying being disconnected from our usual lives!

Despite the above, if you're going to Gangtok in a group of 4-10 people, Maya Baas is a superb yet reasonable option; much better than everyone staying in separate hotel rooms, according to me.

The hospitality and warmth shown to us is something we remember well, so thanks Prashant for everything, and please thank Bijay and Biswas too from our side. We loved our stay and will surely come back if we visit Gangtok.

Cheers!

“Serenity in Gangtok!”

If you are a group of friends about 5-8.. this is the best place to stay. This place is approx 13kms away from Gangtok. So you can stay here and then shift to Gangtok or finish the Gangtok part and stay here for min 3-5 days.
The villa is disconnected from the crowd and has a very good lounge to relax.

Tips: we stayed here for 4 days and went to the gangtok city 2 times for shopping. It was a very bad idea because this villa is an experience in itself. so dont put any hectic schedule of shopping or site seeing while staying here.

Point of this villa is to enjoy the "Nothingness", stay calm, enjoy peace doing nothing.

They do provide in house chef and mountain bikes..
