I have just returned from a relaxing 1 week All-Inclusive stay at the Bluebay Resort with my partner. Overall we were satisfied with our stay and whilst there are certain areas of the hotel that could be improved, we had a great time and it was definatly worth the fairly low price that we paid.

Resort
We arrived at the hotel at 11:30am and were advised that our room would be available at 1:30pm, so we stored our luggage in the room behind the reception area and sat at the pool area for a couple of hours which was fine as it was a nice sunny day.
I have read other peoples reviews that Block A/B is the preferred block but having stayed in Block D, I actually enjoyed this. We did not have a pool view but instead faced onto the tennis courts at the back of the resort and we had a slight sea view. We always had sun on our balcony throughout the day and it was like a sun trap which was nice.
The pool area is great and is a good size, with plenty of room and sunbeds.
The beds/pillows in the rooms are not the most comfortable but it is a 3 star resort and you get what you pay for in terms of comfort. If you are a light sleeper you might struggle with the noise, as you can hear even the slightest movement from other rooms.

The resort itself could do with some cosmetic improvements and is slightly dated in some areas. I found certain areas such as the leaking shower in our room a bit of an issue and I had to lay mulitiple towels down everytime I had a shower. The shower just needs to be re-sealled, so it is a simple fix. The chipping white paint on the walls throughout the stairwells etc did not bother me at all, however the ceiling that was falling apart above a walk way in Block D (see picture) was being held up with a cloth and some staples. This looked extremely dangerous and looking at the cracks and rusty staples, this had obviosuly been like that for a while.
The resort has a good sized gym with decent equipemnt, I cannot comment on the Spa as this was undergoing refurbushment during my stay.
We paid 28 Euros to use the safe for the week and received our 5 euros deposit back wen we handed in the safe key.
The cleaner came everyday to our room (except Wednesday ) and the only issue we had was that everyday she left the balcony door wide open!! This is dangerous as ayone could attempt to access the balcony. The rooms have air conditoning and were not hot at all, so there was no reason to leave the door open for air . On the information/safety card that the hotel provide in the room, it clearly states NOT to leave any doors open while out of the room, so I think this a quite a serious issue that the hotel needs to address.
The hotel is in the middle of installing free wifi throughout, so I think this will be a great additional feature to the hotel. We were able to access the wifi from our room for the majority of the stay, accept the last two days when it was down.

Food
I was satisifed with the food and being vegetarian, they had a good selection of meat free dishes. The resturant/bar staff were great and were extremly quick to clear peoples plates and tables which is appreciated. Throughout the day there is also food at the pool area – chips/burgers/rolls etc so you will never go hungry! We also enjoyed all the cocktails on the drinks menu.

Surrounding Area
The hotel is in a great location. When you leave the resort and turn right there is a nice little sports bar (Monicas). They have free wifi. And if you contine down the road for 5 minutes there is a lovely beach. The main town of Costa Teguise is also only a 15 minute walk from the hotel, where you can find some lovely shops/bars/resturants.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and would happily return if we got another good price.

I’ve just returned from an all inclusive week away at the Bluebay hotel in Lanzarote. The overall experience was very pleasurable and relaxing. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very helpful. We did have a problem with the draining system in the shower however, this was sorted straight away and we didn’t experience any further problems. The food was very nice there was always something to choose. The hotel was lovely despite needing a little bit of a refurbishment which I think they are beginning to address this. The hotel is in an ideal location as it’s only a short walk to the sea front and is only a 20minute transfer to and from the airport. Overall, I would recommend this hotel and I would quite happily return.

We arrived on Monday 26th March 2018 a little apprehensive. We saw some reviews that were great and some that were not so good and so didn't know what to expect.
Let me put everyone's fears at rest. It was awesome! From the minute we arrived, the staff at check in were polite, friendly and very helpful! We arrived at 2.40pm and they said to us, rather than check you in and give you your keys, lets get your wrist bands on and you can go for lunch as that finishes at 3pm. Then come back here and we can carry on and get you to your room. We went for lunch and were greeted by the friendliest of Maitre D's. All of the staff in the restaurant were also very cheerful and their attentiveness to clear your plate from you as soon as you had finished was spot on. The selection of lunch on offer was exactly what you would expect from a buffet and it was always hot.
After lunch we went back to reception were seen straight away and given our keys.

Apartment
We found our apartment in B Block - B309 and it was a lot bigger than we expected. A living room with couch, tv (not that it got turned on), desk, 2 chairs, dining table with 4 chairs, hob, sink and balcony and then we went through into a large bedroom, with en-suite bathroom, consisting of shower, toilet, hairdryer, sink. Oh and the bedroom had a balcony too! The cleanliness of the room was immaculate.
We could put our head around the corner and see the pool from the bedroom balcony and the main street from the living room balcony.

The Room Cleaners did a great job and changed the towels/sheets each day (except on weds)

Pool - 2 Pools (Main Pool and Paddling Pool for children)
Both very clean, no litter.

Pool Bar - selection of cocktails (see menu attached) and usual house sprits.
Also 2 Pour your own Beer Taps - Amstel for those of you interested and also Soft Drink Taps (Coke/Coke Zero/Diet Coke/Fanta/Lemonade)
Even the sunbeds (the blue ones) were very comfortable.
Poolside Snacks - Burgers/Hotdogs/Chips/Salads/Ice Cream but to name a few.

Restaurant:
Maitre D's - Sure there was more than one and they were Very Cheerful and welcoming.
Staff in Restaurant - Very Cheerful and Helpful
Selection of Food - Enough to cater for everyone! Anyone that says there isn't isn't being quite truthful and very picky.
Breakfasts - Cooked 'English' Breakfast every morning/cereals/pastries/toast/meats - Coffee Machine/Juice Machine - Awesome
Lunch - meats/salads/breads/hot food/desserts - Pour Your Own from the Taps Wine/Sangria/Beer/Coke etc - Awesome
Dinner - See Lunch
in the restaurant they also do toasties from 11pm-11.30pm - Gutted we only went once, they were awesome after a few beers!

The inside bar opened at 5.30pm and again, the staff were awesome, drinks kept flowing and the atmosphere was chilled. We went here every evening before and after dinner. Closes at midnight.

A couple of nights we went across to the Teatro where the entertainment was.
Bar - Perfect and stocked everything all the other bars stocked.
Entertainment - Cheesy, fun, not too serious. Take it for what it is.

Yes there are plastic cups OUTSIDE (Glass inside), but they were fine, probably a bit less than half pint BUT they do not stop you using your own, I recommend a plastic pint glass if it's really going to be a problem for you. I used one even though I used the small plastic cups when I left mine in the room.

Gym - Small, usual equipment, does the job if you really feel the need to go.

As an aside I would recommend the Wild West at Texas Rancho in Puerto Del Carmen on a Friday, that's fantastic fun!

IF and IF I'm being picky all I had a bit of bug bare about was having to pay for the safe and at best part of £30 for the week I felt was excessive. We opted not to pay for it in the end but I feel that it wouldn't hurt to throw this in for free or lower the charge to at least half. Our Shower Cubicle - It did leak (at the hinge) as it did in our friends apartment and so I'm wondering if its a design fault. Nothing a towel didn't mop up though.

This Hotel is exactly what it says on the tin. 3 star. Its not a 3 star parading as a 5 star
We went expecting the least but got very much more. I would in fact put it at a 3 star plus, a lick of paint here, a new shower door there and probably would make it to a 4, but with a 4 comes a higher price.

So I would just like to finish by saying thank you to ALL of the staff at The BlueBay as you made our stay one we will remember! Would certainly recommend it to everyone.

We went out of School Holiday time 26th March - 2nd April which was lovely

Stayed here for a week with my wife & 13yr old son.
Facilities were ok with good pool areas & bar area.
Entertainment was the usual mini disco with singers, acrobats etc, overall quite good.
The food at the pool bar was burgers and dogs, chips & pizza with ice cream tubs.
Restaurant food was delicious with plenty of choice & all well prepared & presented.
Couldn't fault the food at all, & the staff were all helpful.
Location is good, an easy 20 minutes stroll into town but there are a couple of bars close by if you fancy a change.
Overall would recommend the hotel as a good 3*.

Mixed review for this hotel. Quick 20 mins taxi transfer from the airport and a 15 min walk into the town mean that the location is great.

Our room in block D was clean and the shower was fine. The beds were quite hard and not very comfortable after a while but I saw mattress being carried around the resort so expect we could have had them changed.

The pool is big and plenty of sunbeds in March but might get busy in high season. Pool was cold but once you started swimming it was ok.

The pool bar was help yourself to soft drinks, tea and coffee, beer and wine from 9am until 5pm when you could then go inside to the bar for your free drinks.

The food at the outside bar was a basic salad and lots of chips, hot dogs etc. I didn't try any food.

The restaurant is big and again help yourself to beer, wine soft drinks etc which was good.

The salads were great but that was about it. The rest of the food was very basic and quite tasteless. No real variety except on Chinese night.

Overall that wasn't a deal breaker but worth knowing.

We went for the cycling and this is a good base for that.

Dear Foodfan147,

First of all, thank you for your comment; it is helping us to know the aspects in which we should improve. After reading your review we are really pleased to hear that you liked the hotel location as base to go on cycling.

We are very happy you highlighted the great salads and you liked the food of the Chinese theme night, even if you write we haven´t met your full expectations with the rest of food, but we do understand it all depends on individual taste. We will take note of all your comments regarding the food in order to improve our services. Thanks for your attention.

Pleased we are you highlighted the clean hotel, as well as the big hotel pool including the quantity of sunbeds.
