We happened upon this resort by chance. After getting married last December we planned a delayed winter honeymoon for November this year.
We had planned Mexico or other Caribbean destinations but due to the natural disasters occurring around our time of booking we decided the Canary Islands might be a better fit on this occasion!
The shorter flight and guaranteed weather fitted the bill nicely!
One thing you will notice when you tell people you have booked a holiday in Lanzarote “it’s windy, so windy”
I only found this fact out after booking,
It’s not that bad honestly, more a constant light breeze which we found quite pleasant.
Truthfully though ( sorry Lanzarote) people say there is not much difference in temperature between the Islands at this time of year, my experience is Tenerife is hotter, not by much admittedly but enough that I noticed.
However would I come back to Lanzarote and this hotel...... YES!
Upon arriving at the hotel, we were impressed with the facilities. The hotel was modern and welcoming and our suite was lovely, very spacious. The hotel itself is a bit of a rabbit warren but after a few days, you know your way around.
The facilities are very good. We are a sporty couple and the gym, spa and tennis/basketball courts are fantastic. The pools are a good size, albeit quite cold but we were informed that the wind on the island affects even a heated pool. The standard of cleanliness in the hotel is second to none.
One criticism I’m afraid is the spa, the hot tubs just were not hot, they were cold, the ambient temperature in the spa in general was not good either. Such a shame because it’s a nice spa, really beautiful hot relaxing beds.. ( we fell asleep on them for an hour on our first day)
I told the staff and they did try to rectify the hot tub situation and it did become slightly warmer, still not “hot tub hot” though , the sauna however is gorgeous, the steam room is poor, maybe slightly too big therefore the steam doesn’t seem to collect properly.
As expected, the food becomes rather similar. There is plenty of choice available but it does blur into one after a while but to be expected when everything is paid for in advance.
We did hear some people saying the food wasn’t great but feel that’s unfair. As a couple we do all inclusive because it’s cost effective , we do not expect 5 star dinners every night.
I also heard a few people moaning about the quality of the wine, I won’t lie, it’s not a crisp New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc coming from the wine taps but it’s okay for what we paid for it. The beer is good, the juices are not great, a fresh orange juice squeezer would have been a nice touch as I have seen in most other similar all inclusive hotels.
As for entertainment.....this is where my 5 stars come from. The animation team are brilliant. Not intrusive but such a good team. Amazing evening entertainment and a DJ that rocks. Very open for requests and such a friendly guy. The Michael Jackson show deserves a special mention.
