Spent a beautiful week in Villa Cleo. The villa is only a few minutes walk to the commercial centre where there are a handful of bars and restaurants and a couple of small supermarkets largely catering for the tourist trade. In the other direction, again less than 10 minutes walk is Cala Blanca beach and a number of restaurants and bars either side of the cove. The general feeling of the resort is relaxed and would not suit anyone looking for exciting nightlife. The beach was small and clean with a lifeguard. Sun loungers available to hire but get booked up very quickly. If you have a car Ciutadella is about 10 minutes drive and offers a bit of culture and retail therapy. Easy to drive around as it is not that big. There is good free parking near the port. Cala Blanca is also on the Cami de Cavalls- a coastal path that runs around the entire island. We walked two of the stages and really enjoyed the views and lack of crowds.
The villa has a covered terrace with a table and chairs outside where we ate all our meals. It overlooks the ample sized pool. Unfortunately we couldn't find the light switch for the pool light which was a shame at night. Inside the villa is fairly basic but offers most of what you want for holiday accommodation. The beds were VERY hard and not comfortable and the double comes with a long bolster style pillow to share. Kitchen was short of a large amount of crockery and cutlery. we were a party of 3 fortunately as there were only 2 cereal bowls, four knives, 2 large wine glasses etc. - not really suited for 6! Also there were no baking sheets etc for the oven to cook pizza etc.
Wi fi definitely not working- could pick up a signal but never managed to get anything to download. satellite TV- the only english speaking channel available was BBC World News. DVD player supplied but no DVDs in the villa.
Our biggest disappointment with the villa was arriving at 9pm to find that there was no welcome pack i.e. no food or drink whatsoever in the villa and the supermarket was shut. We ate out, but this wouldn't always suit everyone and we had to head out early Sunday morning to get some bottled water etc. Whenever we have stayed in a villa before there is ALWAYS some water, milk, bread, tea , coffee etc. left in a small welcome pack.
The villa is not suitable for small children- the pool is deep and unfenced and can be accessed from all doors out of the villa. Also the gate (onto a very quiet road) could be opened easily by a child. There is also a large cupboard in the hall area with a 'no entry' sign pasted on it - it should be locked as it contains cleaning products at a low level accessable to children.
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely holiday in Cala Blanca again but due to the uncomfortable beds would possibly try another villa if available.
