Returned from the Caretta Holiday Village in October and what a fantastic holiday we had! After the past few years of Spanish holidays we decided to switch it up and visit Greece as we hadn't for a while.

This hotel was everything which we could of asked for, amazing if you are travelling with children would recommend. There is a large splash pool for the kids, and there are hundreds of sunbeds so you shouldn't have an issue getting a sunbed.

We did have some issues with noisy neighbours however the hotel management were able to move us to another room and even helped with our cases.

The food was lovely, slightly repetitive but isn't every all inclusive? Drinks were lovely with lots of selection for us to choose from.

Also this hotel has lots of different area with pools, so if you're travelling as a couple and want a bit of quiet you can get this! Just a short walk out the hotel grounds will lead you into Kalamaki town a lovely authentic town. About 20 minutes to the beach which we didn't think much of, but I'm more of a pool person than a beach person.

Lots of excursions to do in nearby places, we jumped on the local bus to Zante town for approx 2 euros each which was a lovely day out. We also went to the go karting area in Laganas which is about 5 minutes away on the bus, and the boat trips are an absolute must!

Overall would recommend this hotel over and over again especially travelling with kids / as a family nothing more you could ask for!

Room Tip: Ask to be in the Yellow block (quieter rooms)

Visited for one week commencing 23 Oct. with daughter and two grandchildren aged 4 and 6. Had two studio apartments on 3rd floor overlooking pools - facilities good and clean though had to report many housekeeping issues - hairdryer not working, phone not working, light bulbs needed replacing, bath water flooding bathroom, lift not working, Within 36hours both children had sickness and diahorrea, vomiting constantly for 9 hours. Had to ask cleaner to mop with disinfectant as just wiping up with bed linen. Next day reported to Thomas Cook rep who was pretty disinterested. Then found out many others were ill too. Next evening daughter ill with same symptoms. By end of week heard that more than 20 families were ill, more than 36people. Complained about hygiene in restaurant - staff handling food not wearing protective clothing, cold / lukewarm food, waiters and cleaner using same cloth to wipe tables and around buffet - no anti back spray. Debris from tables swept onto floor, left under tables.
No daytime entertainment programme as per brochure and only one night of evening entertainment- a Greek night. Animation team just appeared to eat in restaurant then disappeared. Did 20 mins mini disco each night - only one of them taking part just wanted to get it over with. Should have been a singer on one night but told he wasn't turning up as there weren't enough of us there for him to bother. Didn't even bother getting table tennis table out for a couple of days.
Hotel was closing the day we left but started packing up three days before - moving sunbeds. On last day there was no one serving on outside bar during day and it was shut at night - place was like a ghost town!
Water park was great - kids loved it once they recovered.
Italian restaurant? It's an outdoor glorified gazebo offering limited menu available on buffet in main restaurant.
Transfer back to airport- sent a 49 seater coach for 64 of us - children had to sit on knees - what about safety?
Good facilities - pleasant staff. This could be a good hotel but it needs some proper management to address the issues I've raised.

After just returning from a week stay at caretta beach i really cant believe some of the bad reviews, we absolutely loved it! We took our 5 year old daughter she loved it!!
Really nice rooms, great water park, a huge fun park centre and the food was faultless!! Also the supervisor in the restaurant always made the effort to talk to us and made us feel welcome a very nice man doing what i imagine to be a very stressful job!

We visited in the october school holidays i understand it would be alot busier in summer months, it was a really nice time to visit no queuing or sunbed reserving!(which i hate)

I do have one minor moan which was the entertainment team, i do understand it was coming to the end of the season and the animation team were probably tired but i thought they'd at least put in some effort for the schools holidays as there were plenty of kids around but the team just didnt seem interested, mini disco didnt last long even though kids tend to love it and the later entertainment was often cancelled because of the weather or lack of people sitting outside, one night there were at least 20 families sitting waiting for a music quiz but the entertainers stood around until most people got sick and left and then decided to cancel the quiz, they really just couldnt be bothered theres no other way of describing it, such a shame for a great hotel anywhere else ive been the animation team usually work tirelessly but not here ! It really annoyed me!

But other than that what a fantastic place very close to the main strip plenty bars and restaurants if you wanted to eat out anytime!

We are already looking into booking for next year !! Dont let the bad reviews put you off !!! :) :) :)

Where do I even start?
We have saved up all year for this holiday and I was very disappointed.
Take your swim stuff and a change of clothes in your hand luggage. You cannot check into your room until 2! We arrived at 1 and had to leave our luggage in reception. There was no locked room to leave it in. Loads of suitcases piled into reception which doesn't look good when you rock into your hotel expecting 4 star!
2 o'clock came round soon enough but then we had to join a que of other holiday makers desperate to get into their rooms. While waiting 2 staff were arguing, one actually swung for the other which was a good start to the holiday he actualy tried throwing the keyboard at his boss I assume. I like a bit of drama but when you've got loads of kids in reception it's not very professional.
The room we were given was on the bottom floor and dark and gloomy. We weren't happy as people could just jump on to our patio area which the kids and some adults did to retrieve football's. We did complain and the very next day we were given a lovely room on the top floor. We could not fault the reception staff.
The rooms were cleaned every day apart from tuesday and fresh towels everyday-bonus.
The water park is what you pay for with this hotel. It was a godsend with three kids and the lady on reception there was really friendly.
Don't get your hopes up about food. Evening meal is served at 7.30 not ideal when you've got young kids. It got better as the week went on. It was rubbish for the kids. Chicken nuggets that had never seen a chicken and fish fingers everyday which had never seen fish. Safe to say the kids were starving all week.
Snack bar served the best food. Pizza was lovely. Practically all we lived on.
Don't book the Italian restraunt, my dogs got more Italian in her than anything in that place. We were gutted actually as we waited a hour for our food and everything we wanted to order they had run out of. Even though we were one of the first families in. To add insult to injury we missed Mexican night which was probably the best food all week!
Wasps!!! Ruined the holiday you cannot get near the drinks machine for fear of getting stung! Grab a cocktail make sure you down it in one or else get covered by a swarm of them! Not once did we see anyone wipe a table down. In fact the only person that cleaned was the lovely lady on the water park reception.
Entertainment was shocking the guy with the tightest shorts on in the world was a complete twit! If only I could use expletives! He only catered to his fellow polish. Once they went home he didn't give a damn about the rest of us. He has no Interest in the kids. Ignored the lot and when doing a dance with them he clapped hands with one of the children and wiped his hands down his over tight hot pants!
Towards the end of the week entertainment ended at 10.30 if you could call it entertainment. One of the days it rained and there was no entertainment on at all as it is all outside.
The best night we had was when one Scottish couple took over and plugged their phone in.
The hotel could be fantastic but it seems as if everything is a chore.
We work hard to be able to come on holiday and to be this disappointed is unreal. We might as well have set our money on fire.
Sort the checking in out and the entertainment team and it would be 100% better.

Hi there I’m at the car Etta beach as I write this, what Can I say that has already been said!!
Ok the resort is ok not 5 or 4 star but ok
Accommodation we had the duplex so room for the kids down stairs and us upstairs beds comfortable and cleaned daily.
Food plentiful but limited, not a lot of choices and bland lots of roast chicken and chips ok to fill you up not nothing Greek .
Pools good water park great kids loved it!!
Overall place seems a bit tired and food could do with a lot more flavour but if you have picky kids then you should be ok.
Would I recommend it, well we won’t be coming again as have had much better all inclusive deals in other resorts.
Few tips bring money the main drag is very close and food better there, hire a car and explore the locals are great.
So overall ok to stay but not worth the all inclusive tag you can find better and I wish we had.
Definitely not the worst place I’ve stayed but it’s cheap for a reason.
If the food was much improved and the drinks which are not great, avoid the ready made cocktails,I would think about coming back again.
PS the beer is ok
Enjoy
