Have just returned after another fantastic 2 weeks at Ionian Blue Apartments. It was our 5th visit here any stayed as a couple, although it seemed like we was one big happy family as a lot of returning customers were there it was lovely to see them all again. We stayed in Room 104 and don't be put off by other reviews although a bit dark, the terrace was more private, bathroom was top quality wet room with 2 powerful shower heads. Gina is new on reception this year and is a credit to the Hotel, she is helpful, friendly and will do her best to help you in any way. Food and drink at the hotel very reasonable and of excellent quality. The owners Dennis & Maris and not forgetting little man Alexander are lovely and make you feel very welcome. Will definitely be back next year, and can't wait. Thank you all at Ionian Blue xxx

My second stay but my family's first. Good sized rooms, fresh towels and linen changed regularly. The room we had needs a few tweaks that would make it better, we had a wonky shower pole and the curtain needed refreshing and we found ciggie ask in the shutter that was still there when we left. Cleaner is lovely and hard working, she came in daily and gave it a sweep or mop and emptied bins, changed sheets etc.

Staff were all friendly and pleasant, always saying morning etc with a smile. The receptionist happy to call a taxi for you and to sort out any maintenance needed. Day bar staff always there and again friendly. Bar and pool area clean and tidy. Gardens well kept although the grass could have been cut and the palms tidied up. Bar food for lunch had a good variety and choice.

however our stay was lovely, away from the main strip so nice and quiet, with a short walk to shops etc.

Room Tip: all rooms face pool area. i prefer higher rooms just for the views and we like to sleep with doors o...

We arrived at the Ionion about 6.30am. on arrival we was greeted by Gina the new receptionist. She told us the information about the welcome meeting and gave us our room keys. You can get air conditioning for 120 euros for two weeks which we paid on arrival. I would recommend the hotel could do with putting a free bottle of water in the fridge for the guests arriving early hrs as the shops don't open till 8am.
The rooms are clean but basic and could do with been updated furniture wise.
The pool area is managed by Helen would will do anything to help. It serves breakfast from 8am till 10.30 and snacks till 6pm when the evening menu is served.
The cost of the food is about the same as the rest of Kalamaki but the drinks are a little bit more expensive.
The evening is managed by Jonny who is great with the customers and makes you feel very welcome. The only thing is the owner Dennis does sit watching the bar at night which sort of makes you feel he maybe doesn't trust the staff, which is a shame.
We had 5 rooms altogether with a total off 13 people, we asked Gina to check if we could have late check out as we had children with us, the youngest been One. She advised she only had one room available but would check with the manager Dennis as she said that is really not suitable for 13 people to share, which is right.
Anyway she then informed us that there is definitely only One room and they wanted 100 euro for us all to use it, even though we could not all fit. When we left our rooms at 10am on the Sunday we checked to see if anyone went in the rooms we stayed in and no-one had checked into our room or my brother in laws room, so technically we could of had 3 rooms but for some reason they did not want us to use them, so most of the family had to sleep in the lobby which was really cold as we were not getting picked up till 4am Monday morning. We even had to ask for new towels and bedding as they were going to leave us with the dirty ones. Apart from this which was the end of our holiday we did enjoy staying there. Next year 2018 the Ionion is going B & B so the cost to stay there will be a lot more expensive, I'd say not worth the extra money.
It's a shame as more and more hotels are doing this which I think is bad for the area.

Room Tip: Top two floors are the best, they do have dungeon rooms which are cooler but dark and right on line...

Thank you for choosing to stay at Ionion Blue and for your comments which we shall take into consideration and every year we do try to improve the hotel - but I am sure you are aware of the financial problems we face within Greece.
In relation to Mr Dennis - he is the owner of the hotel and lives and works in the hotel. I am sure you can understand that within any business set up there is always someone in charge. He of course trusts his staff but he does not take a break in his own bar just to check on them, he has the liberty to relax and watch the sports on the TV.
For the Late Check Out Room - we are sorry you are dissatisfied, however in peak season the Tour Operatior sends me rooms back to back and therefore I did not have any extra rooms to offer you. Truthfully I did not have any availability for you. The only room available was the one room you had and you paid EUR70 for it. Of course it was not big enough for you all - but for day use / general usage of the WC and shower were okay. You wanted a full extra night usage and we allowed you to stay in it until the bus arrived at 3am whereas a late check out room is usually only until 18.00.
We hope overall that you had a great holiday.

Best regards
Maria
