We have been to Kalamaki before but this is our first time at Ionian Blue. Having read reviews about the basement rooms, we requested not to have these if possible. However, now that we have been, we can honestly say these rooms are actually great for families with young children as they are close to the sun beds and pool. They may not get that much sunlight on the terrace- but who goes to a Greek island to sit on their balcony or terrace???!! Kalamaki has so much to see and do! Ionian Blue is located in an ideal position on the island- central but set back from the main strip where the bars and restaurants are. Staff are fab, the pool is great, cocktails are tasty and the rooms are very clean - thanks to the hard working ladies that maintain them. Jason and Helen are definitely key people who make Ionian Blue a welcoming place to stay. Both work a lot of hours and work hard to ensure you enjoy your stay. Thank you for a wonderful 2 weeks. We will certainly return.

Second visit to the ionian blue and I must say it was better than the first. Jason (the manager) and Helen from the pool bar remembered us from last year and also greeted us with there nice and friendly upbeat manner. Nothing was to much for them. We had top floor rooms very modern and cleaned daily by very enthusiastic staff always said hello, with fantastic views of kalamaki and surrounding areas, the food in the new Rock Salt restaurant was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced, we can't wait to go back next year 5 out of 5 from our family, as Jason says go you arrive as guests but go home as friends.

Well this was our second year and it's just gets better new dining area food very reasonably priced and good Jason was great nothing too much trouble got the room we asked for 5 min walk to the strip Ideal location only thing is the hidden costs air con 120 euros for 2 weeks really cuts into your holiday cash but you can't really do with out it but that said had a fabulous holiday and will return

Plus points:
Modern, well decorated, clean, staff friendly, good choice and flexible breakfast choices (not buffet as advertised by Tui). The studios are spacious and nice bathroom and shower. Comfortable beds. Pool and area is nice, wasn't too busy even in August. No real hassle with sun beds, some people up at stupid o'clock to reserve but we always managed to get 4 near each other.
5 minute walk to main strip. Lunch meals were tasty and freshly prepared. Prices reasonable.

Negatives:
60€ a week for air con is REALLY expensive. We had 2 rooms so an unexpected €120 euro added to holiday costs wasn't a good start. Will also feed this back to Tui.
Also paid for a late room check out and had to pay an extra €6 for the extra person - really?! We were €2 short at the time of paying, genuinely forgot we owed it but boy were we reminded before we left. All felt a bit money grabbing.
Not very well equipped facilities in apartment, I think you would struggle to cook for a family. And no washing up products provided.

My husband and I have visited Kalamaki 6 Times and stayed in Ionian Blue 5 and will be staying again . The Hotel is so clean and situated in a lovely area . The staff Jason and Helen are so accommodating and helpful and Dennis the owner is always so pleasant . The decor is lovely and the pictures on the websit are true to the real thing. Love the hotel and the resort and our friends have recently started to come with us and they feel the same .

Room Tip: Higher floors get more sun
