We booked this hotel with Thomson/TUI for two weeks of what we were promised would be peace and relaxation in a calm and sophisticated boutique hotel which had an ADULT FOCUS. These are the words used to describe Acqua Vatos on the TUI website. Nothing could be further from the truth. The hotel itself advertises that it is family friendly and welcomes children. The result is a hotel full of guests who have all booked with different expectations as to what kind of holiday they will receive, expectations which contradict each other.
That aside, our experience of the hotel was very poor and a boutique hotel this certainly is not. For a holiday costing almost £3000 we were given a tiny dark and shabby room which only ever received a cursory cleaning. The 'Garden view' we had paid for was a few trees directly in front of which was a car park with cars coming day and night. The bathroom was pretty poor with the shower often alternating between cold and very hot, regardless of where you placed the temperature control. There was also a recurring smell of drains in the bathroom.
The so called sophisticated pool area became a children's party area as the hotel had booked in a family party of 20 with a dozen children into what we had booked as an ADULT FOCUSSED hotel. This made the pool a no go area for anyone seeking the peace and relaxation they had paid for. Breakfast became akin to a private dining area for the family group so those guests who booked in for the adult focussed, calm and sophisticated holiday often had to breakfast outside by the front steps. Sleeping became difficult as the noise created by the returning group, slamming of doors and children running in the corridors cut through even my earplugs. At 3am there were shouts down the corridor asking who had the adaptor!
Complaints to reception were met with indifference and we never got to speak with the manager despite our requests.
Whereas you can expect some children in most hotels in August, we had spent a long time researching our holiday and chose Acqua Vatos because of the Adult Focussed claim. Either Thomson/TUI need to review their claims or the hotel does.
Acqua Vatos has the potential to be a great little hotel if only it could decide what kind of hotel it wants to be. The location is pretty good and mostly the staff were polite and pleasant, especially the breakfast crew.
Unfortunately it fails to deliver either the adult focussed retreat or the family friendly vacation . The result is a confused and contradictory product.

We stayed in this fantastic hotel for 14 nights in June. Our room was a standard room, on the ground floor at the back of the hotel. Good size room, clean towels & bedding daily, the bed was comfortable, but one side of it was against the wall, which was not a major problem. The bathroom was pretty small, with a walk in shower that was good, there was also a travel hairdryer, which I used, although i took my own, and said hairdryer was great. Toiletries were replenished on a daily basis. One real thing that irritated me was that there were only 2 power plugs in the room, which again was not a major problem, but it was a rigmarole charging cameras, phones etc. There was an air con unit in the room, which was brilliant & free. No safe in the room, but there were safety deposit boxes just off reception which were also free. There was no bar in the evening, but you only had to step outside of the hotel & you had your choice of several. The hotel is situated bang in the middle of Kamari, it was a less than 5 minute to the beach and dozens of bars & restaurants. All the beachfront restaurants have sunbeds & umbrellas which are free, you can stay there all day, all they ask is that you buy something from them, & you are served drinks & snacks at your sunbed. The food & service is fantastic wherever you eat. From the hotel, the bus stop to go to other parts of Santorini is literally 2 minutes walk & very cheap to use & the buses are also air conditioned.
I will sum up by saying that the Acqua Vatos Hotel is the most friendly we have ever stayed in, Eirini on reception is there every day with the biggest of smiles & helps you out when you need advice, she enjoys her job & you can tell it, she is such a wonderful person. Now to breakfast... We absolutely loved breakfast, choices are cereals, toast, Greek yoghurt, Greek honey, home made jams, eggs (scrambled, fried, boiled) bacon, home made Greek pies, home made cakes & pastries, cold meats, salads, fresh fruit, pancakes & omelettes, I have probably forgotten something, but it was all very delicious & made fresh every day. I would definitely go back there in a heartbeat, a fabulous hotel on the stunning island Santorini...... We are already looking to go back ❤❤

My Partner and I went to this Hotel July 2017, the Hotel is clean, pleasant and the staff are great and helpful. My 1 concern is that it has no child pool and the pool itself has no depth markings on it. Lastly the breakfasts are not to our taste [but that's a personal thing] they say English but not really, we in the end went to an Irish bar and had a full English, sorry, but only a couple of times. Thanks Santorini and Acqua Vatos see you in the future, maybe.

Room Tip: Second floor would be Ideal

We have had 2 weeks at Aqua Vatos and loved it. It is right in the heart of Kamari close to restaurants and the seafront but quiet. We had a standard room which is large enough for the amount of time you spend in it. There is a balcony which is nice to sit out on after returning from the beach but not much of a view. The room has air conditioning and a fridge which is really useful. The hotel is spotless and staff really helpful. The breakfast is sufficient. It has a few different local dishes that the ladies in kitchen prepare, all of which are very tasty. There are continental choices and eggs and bacon. The pool area is quiet and there is never a problem getting a sunbed. The hotel provides pool towels. There is a pool bar which serves drinks and food at lunch time. There is a bar in the hotel but didn't see anyone use it as people go to ones in the town. It you want a hotel in a good location in Kamari then this has to be a good choice.

We stayed here for a week through Thomson, they advertised the hotel as a 4star hotel but it barely makes a 3 star rating in my opinion.

The positives are:
The hotel is located in great area in Kamari, few minutes walk from the beach, the bus stop is right outside and near all local restaurants and cafe bars.

The swimming pool is nice and we never had issues getting sunbeds, breakfast was also nice.

The negatives:

The rooms don't have a safe, there is a room behind reception where there are lockers which the managers also have a key to.

The water pressure in shower and tap was poor, the toilet and shower weren't really cleaned properly.

The room we stayed in was small, bedsheets were only changed twice in the week we stayed, Aircon was broken.

The mini-fridge in the room was so loud we had to turn it off at nights and wake up to warm water bottles.

Overall it's an average hotel and purely for the location we had a good stay.

Tips:
You can get water taxi from Kamari beach to Perissa beach from hooks cafe for €5pp.

You can get the bus to Fira from outside the hotel for €1.80 euro pp.

Definitely worth hiring a car to visit the different villages on Santorini, ask around before getting a car as some places will try to rip you off, we managed to get a car for €30 per day!

Definitely visit Oia and Fira for the views and the amazing sunset!!
