Too expensive and not worthy: 63 dollars for two great plates of fries with a few other stuff and they don’t taste good. However, the cafe’s view is marvellous, I have to admit.

This is within the Glentanner visitor centre on the road to Mt Cook and it makes no attempt to outperform the typical visitor centre cafe. There were some stodgy-looking sandwiches and pies in the window and a similar cooked menu with very little in the way of vegetables (I'm not vegetarian, I just wanted something light that didn't rely on bread and meat). I ended up with a horribly watery pumpkin soup - it was actually like they'd prepared a decent pumpkin soup and then heavily diluted it with water. I got a couple of pieces of nice bread with it along with some thoroughly melted butter. The coffee was strong but grainy. And the inside toilets were broken.

At least you get the view. The terrace is great but there is no shade, but you can also see Mt Cook from the ugly interior. Or, if you have your own food, you can go to any rest stop and get the same view without paying for the cafe.

We were staying at the Glentanner Park and found the lunch to be quite good. Just wish they had been opened later than 4:30 to have gotten something in the evening. There are places to eat in the Mt Cook Village that are over 30 minutes away that we tried and did not like as much as here. The help was quite nice and helpful.

A group of us went. Some got their lunch two hours after ordering. Cook not prepared. I had a chilli stuffed potato with one teaspoon of mince. Beautiful location but needs to ups it game if it wants groups to come. I was frustrated with the chaos.

Had brunch here before we left for the coast. Stunning views, egg and bacon muffin was toasted and reheated. Hot chic comes with marshmallow and Jaffa which my kids thought was a novelty.
