Public holiday Monday and headed to Waipara for a winery lunch but those we visited were closed. Interesting. So having visited the Torlesse cellar door and purchased some if their best, we headed back toward the city and stopped at Copper Road on the south side of Amberley. Car park quite full but plenty of room inside. We took an outside seat. It was a lovely sunny day after all.

Menu looked good. 15% surcharge should be a thing of the past, but this place is in the Entertainment book, so the 25% discount helped.

We don't normally do pizza but on this occasion took a half and half, including olive with sun dried tomatoes and capsicum, and a salmon and shrimp combination.

We really enjoyed the pizza despite the wait, and they forgot to deliver our drinks order. One or two other customers seemed agitated by the service delays. I think they hadn't staffed adequately, therefore the surcharge was unjustified.

Anyway - we enjoyed the lunch, and may revisit on a non-holiday.

Thank Chris S

Copper Road was our choice for a spring day lunch with friends. It was certainly worth the drive north from Christchurch. We all enjoyed the different foods we chose from the extensive menu - Chicken filo, Stout pie, Caesar salad, Rib eye steak or Steak sandwich. A chocolate mint cheesecake to share was a treat too. We will definitely make the effort to go back

We came here for lunch on a Sunday during school holidays, I mention this because one would think a place like this could get busy. Only about 3 tables already seated when we arrived and the one front of house server.....cue the hordes of people and most tables being filled and the no doubt, frantic call for more staff to come and help.

We ordered once server had finished making coffees and were looking forward to Stout pies and chicken nuggets and chips for kids.....what happened from there could have been much worse with the kids tackling the poor girl who was clearly under pressure but with help by this stage. Once the forth table to be served their food before us but ordered after us, it was time to have a chat. There was a mix up with orders and the chef misplaced ours....I thought I held myself quite well to be honest but we're offered free drinks to value of about $30 and accepted this.

I'm sorry but there is no excuse for not enough staff on potentially a busy day.

The food is the only saving grace, the pies were pretty good actually and apart from what part a chicken nugget actually comes from on the bird, I think the kids enjoyed theirs.

One final point is that on their menu they do mention about if you have time constraints, to mention this and they will work magic....ahhhh yeah sounds like an excuse to me.

If you come in here and it is busy....just walk out and try somewhere else.

I had travelled passed on numerous occasions and on this day I thought I really want to go there. When we arrived it looked as though they had been rather busy, the tables outside were covered in plates from previous diners. We were taken to a table inside covered in dishes which was cleared for us, then the lady left and proceeded to sit down and chat with people at another table. We ordered and the waitress said o did she not tell you, we have run out of the 2 things we had ordered, That was fine we re ordered. Entree was fast, so was main but everything was coated in a over generous layer of chilli sauce so it killed any other flavours and it was not warm, the beer was good. Tables inside were also covered in dishes. One poor girl (who definitly should get a pay rise) was running serving people while the lady continued to sit and chat with people. We waited to pay, the lady reluctantly stopped chatting and we payed. We did notice that all the diners dirty dishes were still sitting on the tables out front since before we arrived.
