This house was situated between two small villages and about four miles from Chesterfield. House was very spacious, two big lounges, large kitchen with Aga which was fab as never used one before, a large table lots of people could sit at.for breakfast, lunch etc. Absolutely amazing dining room, leading out to an equally big conservatory. We were a family group of 17 which included children. Pool was such a bonus, very warm and hot tubs were great, one by pool and one outdoors. It had everything we needed so we did not travel far from Hagg Hall. Mel the owner was on hand and very welcoming. House is like stepping back in time 300 years but with all mod cons. Had a great time. Thanks for a great weekend.
We went away for a weekend with our brothers and sisters families - all 17 of us. On arrival Mel gave us 4 a tour of this amazing building and pointed out everything we needed to know. All of the rooms had four poster beds, most had en suites and there were two very comfortable lounges the rooms and decor were very much a piece of history and characterful. Beautiful pieces adorn this house and in the kitchen is a big farmhouse table seats 10 people. The kitchen houses every thing you need including a conventional gas Cooke and a gas fired aga, which I am so pleased to have been able to use. We spent a lot of time chatting around this table catching up with siblings we don't always get the chance to visit and just relaxing.
The swimming pool was an added bonus for us as the weather was windy and wild and dreary and cloudy at the same time. Hagg Hill offered the vista to see the weather rolling in from a distance. The house was lovely and warm all times. The adults and kids loved the pool and everything we needed was here, blow up pool beds, pool toys. There was also a child's pool which was also warm and and indoor and outdoor jacuzzi to enjoy the odd glass of proscecco, in plastic glasses all provided by Mel for this purpose! In fact we brought so much stuff we actually did not need too, as most of our needs were amply catered for including towelling slippers ad robes for each person to use in the pool. If you read the blurb on Hagg Hall everything is there, but what it does not state is how chilled, friendly and at ease the place makes you feel and we did not really want to go back to our respective homes across the country. Don't get me wrong the places creaks and the floorboards too probably due to being grade 2 listed, even a couple of rooms had a slight list in them! So thanks you Mel for preserving this Hall and allowing people like our family to get together have fun laugh and cry together. We didappreciate it.
We've just returned after an amazing weekend with family and friends, celebrating our parents Ruby wedding Anniversary. Everyone enjoyed the pool, hot tubs and all the bedrooms had there own quirkiness and character. As for Melvyn the owner of this fantastic home, he's a lovely gentleman and we enjoyed his stories. We're looking forward to going again!
Stayed with 17 girls on a hen weekend and a great time was had by all!
The house is gorgeous- really clean and well looked after with an amazing dining table and of course a lovely pool and 2 hot tubs.
Mel the owner is a legend and is happy to give advice and help you enjoy the weekend and the flowers he gave our bride to be were a really nice touch.
Couldn't fault this house and already passed on the details to friends and family-we will be back!
I've just returned from my hen do at Hagg Hill Hall. I loved every minute of it. The house is amazing, from the beautiful four poster beds, enormous fire place and comfy living rooms, to the the best bit for me, which was the pool and hot tubs. Mel the owner was really friendly (with a cheeky personality) and on hand for any help we needed during our stay. Chesterfield is just down the road for any local amenities, we were quite happy to fill the fridge and take plenty of alcohol and entertain ourselves and the house really is the perfect accommodation for this. Before I left Mel gave me a lovely bunch of flowers and wished me well for my wedding, which I though was a really lovely touch and end to the weekend. I would definitely recommend Hagg Hill Hall. I cant wait to go back.
