“Beautiful cottage in a stunning location!”
Reviewed 16 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

It was very easy to book and Karen was very quick at responding to any queries we had. The property is situated in the valley with beautiful views over the valley and a great variety of stunning walks leading from the garden to the Elan Valley! The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped. We will be planning our next trip soon!

“Quiet and relaxing break in lovely countryside”
Reviewed 19 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We had a great week in Gwarcae even though the weather was less than kind to us (we had to light a fire on a couple of occasions but the wood was provided so no problem!).
The cottage was a bit more remote than we expected - so no walks to/from the pub. It is very well appointed and clean. As another reviewer said, it does feel like you are staying in someone's home rather than a holiday rental.
We had some lovely walks in the Elan Valley and other nearby areas. Stunning scenery and totally alone - wonderful.
We awoke one morning to see 10 or more Red Kites in the tree opposite the cottage!
A great break for us.

“Walking in to Gwarcae was like walking in to a home, it was so welcoming.”
Reviewed 23 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

I was looking for a cosy, isolated holiday cottage with easy access to the mountains. Gwarcae provided this and more for our Easter break. When we arrived the stove and rayburn were going meaning the cottage was lovely, warm and welcoming. It felt more like walking in to someones home than a holiday rental.

Everything we needed was provided including a well stocked kitchen and a great shower. The living room room was a great place to relax on the sofa reading or watching the TV in front of the fire. The bedrooms provided storage space, comfy beds and beautiful views of the Elan Valley. The shower was excellent and just what was needed after a long walk.

If you enjoy walking the cottage is perfect as it provides an opportunity to walk out straight from the cottage on a variety of great walks.

I can't recommend Gwarcae enough!

“Amazing cottage - best weekend break”
Reviewed 29 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

I can highly recommend Gwarcae to anyone looking for a holiday in Wales. The cottage itself is stunning, surrounded by fields and trees - it's a real little hideaway.

The cottage was in immaculate condition, the lounge has two comfy sofas, a TV, DVD player and stereo. It has an open fire and a wood burning stove as well as a dining room table. The kitchen has everything you need to create a delicious dinner, with all the amenities you would expect. Upstairs there are 3 good size rooms and a bathroom (the shower is amazing - better than he one at home)!

Beds were already made when we arrived and so was the fire (and wood burning stove) so we settled in very quickly and were out the door on our ffrst walk within 20minutes!

The surrounding area is just stunning, lots of lovely walks to go on, the views over the Valley are breath taking, lots of sheep, cows and horses to look at - so great for kids. We also went on a drive around the reservoirs (you can walk to them but we were feeling lazy), so much to see and take photos of!

The town is a less than 5 minute drive from the cottage and has a large number of shops (butchers, fruit and veg, newsagents, Spa) etc you can pick up anything you need, plus there are a number of pubs to eat in. I'd recommend the Triangle - good grub at a reasonable price.

If you like antique shopping then you will definitely find some interesting bits to buy at a fraction of the price that you would pay in London!

Absolutely love this cottage, can't wait to go back, already planning our next trip!
