This is asmall site, located in alovely village with pub,and shop.
The owner was very welcoming upon arrival, the caravan was clean, well equipped with bed linnen and kitchen utensils.
The park is very well maintained with good toilet, and shower block.
Asmall shop is on site for essentials.
AND if you got young children, its safe for them to run around in..
It is in avillage so if you want asite with swimming pool, discos and bars etc this aint for you. However if you want aquiet base to stay, then go out and explore this is ideal, there are many attractions all within the local area, and the train service from malton to eithr york or scarborough is good.
Its certainly aholiday park we would return to one day,and recommend.

“Great site great location.”
Reviewed 26 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

A great site and great location. The site had a lovely family feel, super clean amenities and friendly efficient service from the owners.
The location couldn't be better. Easy walking distance to the village and a little gem of a public house. On the doorstep of Castle Howard. Other great days out all in easy reach include York, and Eden Camp. For slightly further a must see is Fountains Abbey. The town of Malton is also only a short drive.

“4th Visit to Robin Hood Park (and the best so far)”
Reviewed 24 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

This was our first visit to Robin Hood Park but our first in a static. (The 3 previous visits were with our camping equipment) Being a great fan of the Proms in the Park concert at Castle Howard we comprehensively searched for a well kept camp site close to the castle and can honestly say this is fabulous. I've read the comments from other visitors about the toilet/shower block being a distance away from the camping pitches but surely if you are a regular camper you will have invested in a porta toilet (I certainly did and saves a long walk especially if you are caught short at night. That apart I had no quibble with the toilet block. It certainly suited us. But what really sets this site apart is the massive pitches and the site management always did their best to accomodate your pitch preference and accessibility to fellow campers. The park is beautifully kept and many tap points around the camping fields.
For this holiday however, we booked a static van as we fancied staying in this beautiful part of the country for longer than the 2 nights normally spent around the proms weekend. Our van (number 6) was spot on. I had just one gripe while I was there and that there was no toaster in our van which I would have preferred but fully accepted Beki's explanation that the vans are not equipped with such electrical equipment due to the maximum wattage permitted but that the oven had an integrated grill which we used. I left after my week's stay still not knowing how the microwave worked. It was integrated into the fridge / freezer unit and even with the instruction booklet we struggled. We got there though in the end.
Friends of ours who hadn't stayed at Robin Hood site booked their own static and were absolutely delighted with their unit and fully intend booking again as do ourselves.
Thank you Robin Hood for making our stay superb and there is absolutely no doubt that we will be back and will gladly recommend your park to anyone who is interested.

“Ok site but a few problems”

We camped at this site this weekend, there were 3 families with children in our party. The camp sites where clean and right next to the park which was good for the children. That's probably the only positive thing we have to say. When we arrived at the campsite we where met by the owner who's attitude was appalling, I seriously don't know how she manages to run a business. The owner started by complaining at us for being booked as a group which I feel is a problem she needs to take up with her staff who booked us in as a group not with us as we were not at fault. She then informed us that if we where noisy she would throw us off the campsite no matter what time of day or night it was! She also bragged to us that she had once thrown a family off the campsite at 4am before and seemed quite pleased with herself for doing this. In my opinion this is extremely inappropriate!! To top this off she also charged one of the families for 3 nights instead of the 2 that they originally booked and refused to give them a refund!!! Next the shower blocks only had 2 showers for the full of the camp which I feel was very limited and people often spent time queuing for showers. All in all I can safely say we will not be returning to this campsite mainly due to the owners stinking attitude

This family verbally abused members of staff from the moment they arrived on the park. The family was not happy to pay for the holiday they had booked - despite arriving with extra people and vehicles.

The family were offered a full refund to leave the park immediately - and chose not to. Hopefully the independent awards for customer service that managers have won far outweigh the allegations made in this review.

“Good - But could be so much better.”

Firstly the positives - What a great part of the country to visit. The site itself is in a great position, on the outskirts of the village of Slingsby with a short 25 min journey into York City Centre and the lovely seaside town of Scarborough just under an hours drive away.

The park is split into 2 areas. At the bottom of a kind of "bowl" are the static caravans. Up one side of this bowl is a gently sloping field with touring pitches at the bottom followed by three separated areas for tents. We stayed in the first of these areas as it had an electric hook up. The pitches were more than adequate for our large family tent with plenty of space for the car to be parked beside it. Trees are used to define each of the areas and the park was very well kept with grass neatly cut and our first impression was very positive.

At the top of the park was a small child's play area, with swings and climbing frame. Not huge but certainly enough to keep our two happy ! We only spoke to the staff on two occasions, once when we checked in and once to ask about local pubs for food. Both times they were very friendly and helpful and we couldn't fault them on the customer service.

The negatives - There weren't that many negative aspects but the ones that exist are quite big ones. The one toilet block for all the campers is located at the edge of the "bowl" on the lowest level of the site. From our position, it wasn't too bad a walk to get to, but if you were further up the field, this would be a considerable distance to go to the loo. The park wasn't very busy during our visit which was just as well as their are only two showers in each of the men's and ladies sections of the toilet block. I can't imagine what the queues would be like for these if the park was full to capacity.

The cleanliness of the toilet blocks was ok. I appreciate that they cannot be kept clean all the time but things like holes in the wall between toilet and shower cubicles are things that should be picked up by cleaning staff. The showers operate by push button and were warm at best. Not the worst I have used but nowhere near the best. It is here also that little things can make a big difference. How about a little shelf in the shower cubicle to place your wash bag on, rather than leaving it on the floor to get wet ? The doors to the toilets open to the inside but the shower doors open outwards meaning there is a gap that people can see through. It also meant that the first time we used it, my little 6 year old kept bumping against the door and it would only take a little knock for it to open.

There is only one washing up area located on the side of the toilet block, which again would mean a long walk with heavy dishes etc for campers further up the field. Again the little things here make a difference. Only 1 plug between 2 sinks and neither of the cold water taps worked very well, spraying water out rather than running into the sink.

The only other negative we encountered was the fact that the fresh drinking water supply backed onto the waste bins. I cannot myself see how this can be very hygienic, but perhaps that's just me being picky !! Not sure if it was normal but the bin men came round at 06.30 on the Tuesday morning which was a bit of a surprise, and by the time we left on Thursday they were overflowing.

We have stayed in a great number of sites over the years and this site was nowhere near the worst and wouldn't take very much to put it near the top. The biggest improvement that the site needs in our opinion is a new shower block on the camping field, but this is obviously a costly investment but one that would certainly improve its rating.

Despite the negatives I would certainly consider staying here again and as long as it was with an electric hook up I would recommend it to a friend.

Many thanks for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review of the park. We appreciate all the comments that you have made and will learn from them. However, we do feel an opportunity was missed to discuss them in person as you failed to mention any of the faults/recommendations whilst staying with us.

The walk from the very furthest point of the tent field to the toilet block is approximately 4 minutes. We give all guests the choice of where to pitch their tent (no electric)so it is up to each family to decide how far they want to be away from the facilities. We acknowledge the distance to be an issue for a small minority for our guests and it is something we will continue to monitor.

Thanks again for your review.
