Lovely position for view but hotel tired needed a lot of refurbishment. Not enough staff though the ones there were very good and friendly.Food adequate but not imaginative. Overall a disappointing holiday

Had a really relaxing week at this hotel. Beautiful surroundings and well trained, efficient very pleasant staff. Clean rooms, lovely pool and pleasant dining area. Food varied and always fresh and plentiful. I would have no hesitation in visiting again.

Whilst no doubting the hotel is located in a very picturesque location, where the North Atlantic meets the mountains. You are in the back and beyond of Madeira.

A) the local Rodoeste bus takes 3 hours from the hotel to the capital Funchal for €5 each way cheap as chips, but the catch is you either get the 7.30am or 12.30pm service and share it with sweaty passengers and chickens flapping in cages (of course you change at Sao Vincente) good luck with that. And if you don't love narrow mountain roads don't bother! Views are goof if you do.

B) Hire a car- you need one, if you plan to explore the island, from this hotel.

C) Taxi's can cost €130 return to/from Funchal from the Hotel...

The hotel in general is average certainly not a four star in my opinion. The hotel needs some TLC with tiles missing in both the outside and inside pools, there was a great crack on the bedroom wall in the room (well done the couple who did it) no seriously the hotel is on top of a cliff so you'd expect a little movement. The hotels Air Conditioning does not appear to function in the restaurant and it is considerably hot at times, sweating eating a salad.. (not that I fear Salads). The food is a little same, with not a great choice to be honest. No snacks except cake and biscuits between 1600-1700 no toasties or burgers etc, drinks it seemed were only available at the bars or with your meal, that were inclusive. The place was spotless though, can't fault them with that... BUT unless you hire a car or don't plan to explore, then maybe it might be ok for you.

Just got back from a week stay at this hotel and would definitely not be returning. Not as described 750m walking distance to bars, shops and restaurants. Had to pay 13euro there and back just to eat at another restaurant as the food at the hotel was not nice. Not a lot of choice, air conditioning broke in restaurant so was too hot to even sit in there. No entertainment at all, I can understand about covid but not even background music. Pool bar advertised at opening at 12.00 but was 12.17 most days. Only drinks there was part of all inclusive, snacks had to be paid for. This hotel is advertised as 4 star all inclusive, definitely wasn’t, stayed at better 3 stars. Not enough sun loungers, people we’re putting towels on the grass. Staff were very rude and not helpful at all. Inside bar you had to wait for staff to come and serve you as they were also working in the dining room. Slabs were uneven when walking around. Indoor pool was disgusting, broken tiles in the pool. Stagnant water around the sides of the pool as if it hadn’t been cleaned at all. Arrived at 1.00 and was given key for room, went to room and it hadn’t been cleaned or sanitised from previous guests, was told shouldn’t of gone to room till 2 even though was given key and directions to get to room. Only seen sanitising of sun loungers twice in the whole week. Spent a lot of time in cafe opposite hotel where we ate and drank most days. Cake was advertised 4.00 - 5.00 from bar. You had to ask for it and then the staff would walk into dining area to get it you, no choice and felt uncomfortable after they returned as you had put them out. Lizard/newt creature in bath first night.

Arrived at 2pm had to wait an hour for our room, as it wasn't ready.

The smell in the reception area is gag worthy .

Room is of adequate size but very outdated, two single beds put together and bathroom that needs attention, had a open drain/ vent and this would flood out water, this obviously was not a recent issue as the bottom of the bathroom door was warped and cracking.

Both pools had tiles loose or missing, some sun loungers were damaged, jacuzzi not in service.

Food was awfull, lots of fruit which was my saving grace, sometimes some of the food looked reused from earlier sittings.

Had a packet of butter that was covered in ????
Looked like someone had used it earlier not opened it but maybe put it on to their plate and then it was put back into the next sitting of butter supplied .

No bar snacks, ice creams unless you paid extra even though we were all inclusive .

No entertainment put on not even any background music anywhere.

Terrace area was dirty, fag butts and packets left around, slabbing was loose and not enough seating supplied.

Some staff could be rude .

Nothing but a public pool, bar and restaurant within walking distance, worth a visit but walking back is all up hill and has lots of steps would not be suitable for small children or those who are unable to walk far.

There is a small cafe, bar restaurant outside the hotel, decent food friendly staff.

Would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!!

Taxi fares are extortionate and the buses are to much hassle having to change over ect.

Thankfully we had some great weather as had it been raining we would have came home early.
