The atmosphere was awesome, but the food was only average. The place wasn't that busy when we went so we were surprised at how slow the service was.

Our family enjoyed our dining experience at Los Arcos. Good variety on the menu to satisfy picky teenage diners. Thank you!

We’d never been here, & when we drove into their parking lot behind the restaurant, it was full, so we were excited to try a new place.

The place was very festive, very clean, & full of people—& the wait was only about 7 minutes. We were asked if we would take a table, but we asked for a booth, & there was one close by, so that pleased us. We mentioned to the hostess & again to the server, whose name I believe was Nick, that it was our first time there...& nothing! No menu suggestions, no welcome, no curiosity, etc.

The Los Arcos local chain of 4 restaurants has been here in Colorado (central: Lone Tree, Westminster, Lakewood, etc.) for several decades. We’ve yet to meet anyone who frequents their locations, & we’ve lived here more than 5 years.

We’ve reached the conclusion that for whatever reasons, mediocre food passes as “Great!” here in the Greater Denver area, & it’s a puzzle we’ll never solve. We ordered ala carte, because the extensive menu did not have combination dinners which appealed to us. Rice & beans are extra on nearly all the dinners—for $3-4 each, so we both chose to order exactly the items we wanted so we didn’t have to pay for a combination dinner that had filler items, such as a bean tostada, which we definitely did not want.

We each ordered a cheese enchilada, & a ground beef enchilada. I ordered a shredded beef hard shell taco & David ordered a ground beef hard shell taco.

While we were waiting, the chips and salsa came out, & we were very surprised by the salsa: It literally had tap water in it to thin it down! It had such an awful after-taste, that not even a bit of fresh cilantro could hide what someone in the kitchen had done—talk about CHEAP! We don’t drink tap water, ever, & can instantly detect the taste! The salsa was TERRIBLE, the worst we’ve ever had—All because someone wanted to make it go further by making it runny! Yuck.

The drinks: A soft drink is $3.25 with one free refill. After that, you have to pay .95 cents—ridiculous! I chose ice water, & the fresh slice of lemon on the rim of the plastic tumbler was perfect! It was the best item I tasted here, sadly...David ordered raspberry tea, & he said it was “top notch”.

Our food arrived, & the enchiladas were swimming in reddish sauce which had a pleasant but bland flavor—there was absolutely no seasoning in the ground beef or the sauce, or the shredded beef in my taco. In fact, the shredded beef wasn’t really shredded—it was lumpy & damp, like it had been in too much liquid...below average at best, & the taco shell was clearly cheap: Had to eat the taco with a fork because the damp meat made it soggy!

The enchiladas, two to the plate, filled the plate, & had a small garnish of shredded lettuce & bits of tomato. The amount of sauce made these “wet plates”, & that’s OK. What was disappointing was that no Mexican seasoning was present.

Our bill came to $24.14. Seldom have I ever done this, but it was such mediocre food along with perfunctory, minimal service—except when it came time to collect the check—that I added only a $2.00 tip.

We’ll never go back: I could have made this twice as good at home by adding Mexican seasoning & using fresh salsa without thinning it with tap water!☺️ If you’re not able to distinguish great Mexican food with authentic flavors—& lots of people evidently don’t—-this place is “wonderful”...
