I climbed up in the dark before sunrise, using the ambient light from Playa Blanca to light my way.
Wouldn’t fancy coming down in the dark though!
Gorgeous views. Need sensible shoes and be fairly fit as steep but absolutely worth the trek. Walk around the crater to get the best view of everything whilst a bit sheltered, then drop down across the crater to cross something off your bucket list!
The views were amazing . Took so many pictures .
Lovely watching the sun come up also.
We spent a whike looking at the vista.
Poor facilities, no toilets or ice cream stands. Just kidding!
An easy 25 minute walk from our hotel to the path that heads up. An easy climb even for a slightly overweight 50 something. 360 degree view and walk around the rim was lovely. Paths are dusty so be prepared to be covered in a find red dust, a little slippery in places but you don’t need hiking boots… just don’t wear flip flops unless taking one of the steeper routes which require a bit of scrambling. Take water and sunscreen and be prepared for some wind!
It’s a nice hike. Not difficult to walk but you need trainers or non-slippery shoes. The weather was perfect. Sunny, warm (not too warm), and also a bit windy. The view is spectacular.
How to get there: Find the H. Paradise Island (hotel). Same street as the Jardines del Sol by Diamond resorts. If you’re in front of the H. Paradise island just cross the street and walk down the road. This will lead you to the foot of the mountain.
Walk up on the mountain. Around it and go down inside the volcano 🌋 then you’ll get a good walk. Might be lucky to see local birds. 🦅
Simply a Great walk
It’s easier going up than down as you’re walking on a lot of loose volcanic rock.
I went early morning and took a hoody but I didn’t need it as it was warm and obviously breezy
