Had been wanting to walk up here for years. Finally researched it properly and did it easily... read more
The views were amazing, watched the sunrise from the top of the volcano and was well worth it- the crater is fascinating to look at, don’t worry it’s been filled in.
Great walk and great views, just be careful if high winds! Nice hour or so walk from Flamingo Beach.
Good shoes recommended :)
The spoon in concrete is exceptional. But. Dawn up this lil’ Spanish Conic Hill is a fantastic treat. Get up before or take the the family and jog/ walk up from Playa Blanca in less than an hour for unbeatable views. Unmissable.
Perfect if you are staying nearby and need to walk off the calories. I took my 9 year old with me first time and then did it solo. Only takes 15 mins to get up and then can stroll around the top as long as you wish. Wear good walking shoes/ trainers and coming down is slippy
Takes about 30 mins to climb up with the kids. Spectacular views at the top are the reward. Watch out as it is very windy at the top.
A couple of ways up but the easiest is from C. España, 3, 35580 Playa Blanca, Las Palmas, Spain (taken from google maps).
Great walk up Montaña Roja.
It took around 20 minutes from the base to the top of the crater. You can then walk around and through the crater which took around 45 minutes.
We then walked back to playa blanca, total walk time around two hours (this included time for photos/snacks). The walk itself is fairly easy but the ground is very rocky throughout so good trainers or walking shoes are needed.
It was very windy at the top but totally worth the views. Our eight year old loves volcanos and he coped with the walk well.
We set off around 8.30am which was perfect as it was warm on the way back. We took lots of water and snacks as there are no facilities.
