We had booked this villa for the last of our 3 week holiday in Lanzarote, with the first 2 weeks being spent at a holiday club resort in Costa Teguise. To be honest, we had decided midway through that holiday that we'd had enough of Lanzarote and wouldn't be back... Once we moved down to Playa Blanca and Villa Sereno, that opinion changed immediately! In fact, we immediately regretted not staying the full 3 weeks here!
The villa was absolutely gorgeous and we couldn't fault the decor (inside or out) in the slightest although it seemed a little strange that the en-suite was attached to the twin bedroom rather than the master but that was just a small niggle as the main bathroom was straight across a small hallway - I loved the little details like lights around the bed, a lovely jewellery box next to the bed, lovely furnishings etc - these were all small things but they added to the luxurious feel of the villa. The pool was lovely too although the weather was really hot so it was like stepping into a warm bath rather than a cool pool but it was still heaven. Playa Blanca was a far nicer part of the island too so if we were coming back, we would definitely book this villa again as both the location and the property were top class. Having two teenagers with us, the added bonus of the wifi was heaven - it's amazing how much your holiday (& where you eat out) is affected by that these days! Our favourite restaurant was Asia which is situated on the waterfront. We had the Tepanyaki it was worth every penny and then some - bar far the best meal I/we've ever had abroad. The welcome pack was fantastic too and again, better than any that we've had before (we holiday in villas quite a lot) although we didn't use very much of it so I just hope the owner wasn't charged the full amount for the next one as I'm sure the majority of what we left (unopened) would have been used.
All in all, I'd highly recommend the villa, so much so, we're hoping to book a full month at some point. I did have a couple of gripes but they weren't major and I wouldn't want them to put anyone off but at the same time, if we were coming for a month, they are things that we'd like to see improved so here goes:
On the day we arrived, we took the cover off the pool ready for a dip and we were immediately hit by a horrible 'tide?' mark around one particular corner of the pool - so much so that when I drifted towards that bit, it made me feel a little sick. We tried to clean it off and although it worked for a little while, it wasn't long before it was back. The pool guy arrived on the Monday to clean it (we arrived on the Thursday) and again, he got it all off but within a few hours it was back. I know that's not the owners fault as it's probably down to sun cream etc but it might be worth having an outdoor shower in order to encourage people to shower before swimming? failing that, I don't know if a stronger chemical can be used as it really does look (& feel) horrible.
Beds: I know it's more practical for holiday lets to have firm mattresses as they'll last longer but I felt as I was lying on a brick. there was an initial 'give' but overall, I ended up with a dead hip if I lay on my side. This can be rectified by offering a mattress topper or something and people can take it off if they don't want/need it. It cheaper to replace that every so often than a full mattress so it might be worth considering? I managed to live with it for the week but any longer would have been a nightmare. I have pelvic issues so I know this is always going to be an issue for me but even hubby (who has nothing wrong with his back/pelvic) complained about it and he too got very little sleep..
