Casa Campo is a small, two-bedroomed house tucked away down a sandy track, off the N340 between La Colorado and Conil. Even though there are houses either side, it is a very quiet and relaxing place to stay. The sandy and secluded coves of Las Calas de Roche are just 8 minutes drive away and the pretty, beach-front town of Conil is just 12 minutes away.
The house is very well equipped with everything you need for a holiday. The double bed is very comfortable (we didn't try the twin beds). The bathroom is very large, with a washing machine in it, though the corner shower stall is small. The shower pressure is good, though the boiler has trouble regulating the water temperature if you want a cool shower and not a hot one.
The kitchen/dining/living area had plenty of space for the two of us. The kitchen is very well equipped, with a four-ring gas hob and everything you need to cook meals (plenty of pots, pans and utensils), though it lacked serving dishes. There's a microwave, but no oven. Ask the owners to check the gas bottle when you arrive as we ran out of gas just as we started to cook a meal one evening and had to wait half an hour for one to be delivered, which was very inconvenient.
There is a large, flat-screen TV in the living area, though we found the chairs and sofa quite uncomfortable due to their shape. There's also a wood burning stove for winter retreats.
Outside there is a large, covered terrace and a small table with chairs. It's surrounded by plants and trees, though looks out onto a bare yard (where your car will be parked) and the neighbouring house. There is no "garden" as such. This is not as bad as it sounds as the plants and trees make it pretty, but it is not secluded. Around the back there is a washing line with lots of pegs, plus they provide a clothes horse in case you need to dry your clothes indoors.
One great bonus is that all of the windows have fly screens, so you can leave the windows open, even at night, and get a lovely breeze flowing through the house (a godsend in the summer months). Bring mosquito repellent and a plug-in as there are plenty around!
There are a selection of great food shops in nearby La Colorado (only 5 minutes drive) and they are easy to find as they line the N340. There's an excellent butcher/greengrocer and fishmonger at the south end and a large supermarket at the north end, all with lots of easy parking. There are also restaurants here, though we didn't try them, preferring to eat out in Conil.
We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Campo. The owners are friendly and easily reachable by mobile phone (if you can get a signal!) though they speak no English, so Google Translate proved very useful! The only downsides we found with this property were the lack of wifi (a bit of a problem if you need to check in for flights) and there are some very noisy cockerels at the adjacent property. Luckily I had brought earplugs, but my partner had very disturbed sleep during our stay.
